This is a bit like asking what is the correct stance in snowboarding, goofy or regular? There is no "correct", it's whatever works best for you.
But pushing mongo is always weird.
Depending on who you ask there is still a correct stance in snowboarding.
Ahh my eyes! Why did you have to post that, just when I forgot about mongo weirdos. Its like doing a flat corner with your inside foot down, disgusting
Agreed, but you know what they say about opinions...
Last few rides I have had a go at right foot foward on a few turns.
I feel like I could learn both ways as I'm ambidextrous with a few other things.
Not sure if there is any advantage in that. Might not be worth the spectacular crashes that might ensure (unless some catches them on film).
I ride regular snowboard and when I used to skateboard. But ride left foot rear while biking.
Natural righty that had to learn lefty for a while after shattering a knee. Took some time to realize the stance change pulled my hips back. Felt weak and way off the back riding switch until I figured that bit out.
Briefly skated mongo. Literal woodpusher. I was awful.
Troy rides with his left foot forward so the question is settled. 🤓
Im with Kango. Skateboard left foot forward, bike right foot forward. But I think it makes sense: that means the left leg is taking the bulk of the load in both cases.
Left leg dominant here, too much basketball as a tall kid shooting right handed layup's in the driveway. Goofy foot skating but for some reason it’s right foot back on a bike.
My natural riding stance is right foot forward. Intentionally switch and ride left foot forward to balance the stress on my legs and back.
Same for me, always goofy on skate-/snowboard but I ride left foot forward on my bike.
I didn’t know that there was supposed to be a dominant foot forward for the longest time and I would constantly switch back and forth to maintain muscular balance.
I guess I have a slight preference to left foot forward but I really struggle to tell the difference when I ride right foot forward and often switch between the two throughout a ride.
Oddly enough, I naturally ride right foot forward but do just about everything else left foot forwards.
If I force myself to do it, I can jump left foot forward and it's no big deal. Left to my preference, I'll always choose right foot forward.
Same, but opposite legs.
Does everyone take more falls on the front-foot-froward shoulder? Flat riders, is your front-foot-forward shin more scarred up than the other one?
Oh man, yes. I think it's because your hips are already "open" to the right so you naturally tuck and roll onto the left shoulder. It kinda sucks riding left foot forward as a right handed person, as now my non-dominant side is even worse due to injuries 😆
Left foot forward biking, right handed, and used to snowboard right foot forward. Im just confused. I did have to send a large jump right foot wardward the other day and it was the weirdest feeling thing in the world.
My normal answer is that I alternate depending on which leg is more tired at the time (and which direction I'm turning, but I think that's a given). However, it would be interesting to see whether I subconsciously prefer one over the other when approaching jumps.
Right foot forward! If it's wrong I don't wanna be right...I mean correct.
Yup same here!
Not for me. I'm right foot forward but have more scars and injuries on my left side. My back shin also has more pedal scars. I typically dismount with my back foot first for some reason.
