I'm assuming they wanted the kinematics to feel close to the A.200.M, but that would've meant they needed to jump through hoops to get the shock mounted. With a yoke, they can retain the kinematics, have the shock mounted down low for stability, and have a one piece gearbox/lower shock mount. It's essentially a trunnion shock but with a custom eye to eye.

it might be as simple as just needing clearance, the lower shock mount appears to go fairly low into the frame. doesn't appear to be clearance for the reservoir

Side note, I took delivery of a V2 Dreadnaught very recently, Absolute weapon, unless of course youre trying to pedal it up a hill, its just an excuse for better fitness.
No sir not at all. Its a cbf bike so it'll pedal better then any of your other enduro / trial bikes out there. Its also been setup to use the same shock set in different mounting holes to achieve different travel values and leverage ratios. Its literally a dh, enduro, or trail bike dependent on the build. I bet it outrides most others that can only do one as well. The steel (Ti coming soon) frame makes it better damped structurally then others as well. They are really cool rigs. Both the canfield bros offer superior products in my humble opinion.

when you say flipped are you referring to the yoke rotating the upper shock mount by 90 degrees? (trying to figure out if i misunderstood the initial question)

I don't know how is the snowmobile business these days, but they are going to sell a LOT of gearboxes (specially MGUs) in the next years if they don't have any big issues

I'm a millenial, but had toe clips on my first XC bike as a kid and it was probably one of the reasons I did not get bit by the mountain bike bug until my 20's...well and the bike itself was a deathtrap even with modern clip pedals.
I hope this is on topic - But since it was news from this week. Just got the OneUp pedals delivered. Some pics and size comparison to Saints for anyone that has been contemplating them.
They are very similar in size, I would say maybe 5% smaller overall platform.
Tried to "dry" clip them in to my Fox Union shoes, but the pins are quite high, and the clip mechanism seems quite hard (From my experience shimano is the same, and it takes a bit for them to "break in) - So I could not clip them in by hand and check how well it contacts the shoe. Pins are not adjustable afaik. But its probably a non issue when mounted and you use your body weight.
