so are teams divvying up the 100k if they win, or it goes to the rider or what?
To base a whole team around a belt drive for 100k seems nuts to me, you have to drop a drivetrain sponsor, use something that is somewhat unknown and then to top it off, win a race with it. I'm presuming the teams wont be sponsored by pinion. So factor in buying 5-10 gearboxes etc.
With a 10-52 cassette and thin shitty chains, yeah I get it. But the sprung weight of a DH 7 gear cassette and proper chain is not going to change your world.
Dan was never on a level with Gee and Rach when he was 25, nevermind now
Maybe not speed wise, but he’s the best all around rider of the family. I’m pretty sure his brother and sister have stated that themselves.
You’re on crack cocaine dude. I’ll put up my own 100 grand if Dan Atherton got on a World Cup downhill podium in 2025. I’ll even grandfather in a five-man podium…he did it once, 20 years ago, so yeah.
Freebase rock crack cocaine ice meth pcp
I'll do the same.
Idk if this has been discussed already but FMD has posted some ig stories about the canyon thing only posting about Kaos, Tahnee and Phoebs, not a word about Oliver 🤷🏻♀️
Okay, I've been thoroughly educated. I've seen Dan kick it with world cup riders on vlogs etc but I guess they have another gear when they're not filming content.
Bingo.. Dan is definitely no slouch compared to us normal people, but top tier WC riders are on a whole different level..
Oli was riding in Thredbo last week with Frotha. Broke a finger apparently. I did see his girlfriend wheeling away an Orbea ebike....
Emil Johannson off Avail Optics
This is exactly the type of stuff I come here for; excellent rumor. It would be great to see Oli Zwar continue with proper support, he’s a talent and personality worth supporting. Bonus points for spotting and including The Froth in your post.
Speaking of Atherton, I did spotto a certain young kiwi on a freshy so that rumor seems good 🤷
Oli Zwar was still on an fmd sender, there was also Ollie Davis on a prototype session frame with what looked like a TFR build kit.
Casey Brown off Clif Bar. I find this to be a weird one, as Clif wasn't exactly bike industry, to share the same struggles. Maybe contract was up and not renewed? If so, I wonder why. Casey hasn't been anything but positive for mountainbiking since as long as I can remember.
Mx
"I’m so grateful for the people at Clif that kept the athlete program going for as long as they could"
This line kind of tells that maybe everyone has been dropped, including Rheeder.
strange, i remember when all 3 won a world cup on the same weekend in the late 2000s in their very own catergories.
I think if anyone was too take advantage of all the support a team can provide it would be Danny, I don’t feel he’s been one to clash with management he just gets on with the job. It could snd should be a great fit.
Dan won the 4X race, Gee DH and Rachel DH
We have entered the part of silly season where people float (and debate!) wild speculation that a 42 year old Dan Atherton returns to downhill (last result was 57th at Crankworx in 2018) on a new rubber band bike to chase a $100k podium.
Perhaps we need an award for most ridiculous rumor every year.
🤣🤣🤣
Nvm! Himself posted now he will continue with FMD! It just concerned me yesterday with not him in ig stories!
Surprised we’ve had this many. Usually isn’t towards the end of Jan as teams don't normally do photo/video shoots with the new riders until their old contracts expire.

And if Rachel does what she did last year and only does a couple of races, the investment isn't that big to build a couple of gearbox bikes.
It's a much smaller investment than moving the whole team over for the full season.
With the way they build the bikes, they could probably get a gearbox belt drive bike made pretty quickly. But, will the gearbox play well with the DW6 suspension layout? Can the get her a bike that feels right for her in a relatively short amount of time?

Read comments, DW himself is even commenting
He also posted that we is working on more dual idler bikes. Maybe the G200 is one of them?
Agree. They are not going to ride wide open every run, thats a great way to shorten the career.
Looks pretty much like a gearbox bike to me... And Dave getting excited over it is definitely a Dave type of thing.. He is the type of person who wants to solve problems like that..
Mostly recent Sam Hill post shows him on some sort of Specialized Levo.
