Hello Vital MTB Visitor,
We’re conducting a survey and would appreciate your input. Your answers will help Vital and the MTB industry better understand what riders like you want. Survey results will be used to recognize top brands. Make your voice heard!
Five lucky people will be selected at random to win a Vital MTB t-shirt.
Thanks in advance,
The Vital MTB Crew
Chainstay to lower link junction looks different than the current alu Summum. It looks like the lower link is mounted higher.
Seth wasn’t willing to drill a hole in his seat was he?
It’s a normal AXS dropper, normal battery. Different seat clamps to get the right angle and then the plastic drilled out to allow the seat to get to that angle.
Although BullDog mentioned in a podcast they have a new Bike ready, as the previous iteration didn’t meet the riders expectations. Therefore happy for the team that they have soonish a new rig to be competitive.
Anyone heard something about the release of the new Boxxer and Vivid?
Have a look some pages back
via email blast, formula MOD shocks now in DH sizes w/o lockout (not ground-breaking, but figured some here may want to see)

I think most of the followers of this topic would prefer it to not be this way :/
Speaking of you...
Mind sharing how tall you are? Just to get a feel for how much reach you run vs. size. Also, regarding the rims, no issues with the shape of the tyre running a somewhat narrow rim (considering the WT casing was designed for ~30 mm rims...)?
EX511s are 30 internal. Unless the thumbnail isn’t accurate and he actually runs 471s, didn’t watch the video
I'm pretty sure I'm 167cm tall.
Not really! I was worried to run the 2.5 on the front but I didn't notice any issues, and because I run DHR2 on the rear I am able to run a 2.4 if I'm running the 471 in the rear. Honestly, I still haven't found my perfect wheel setup/choice yet. Still testing, still learning.
Able to run a 2.4 DHR? I was under the impression the DHR II only comes in a 2.4 (WT) variant
I came from 2.4 Maxxis on 33mm inner width rims, to 2.4 Maxxis on 23mm rims. Almost no issues regarding traction and the tire’s shape. Bu did notice the real reason for the rim change (actually complete wheels’ change) - some 750-760g down on weight!
Did he actually measure if and how much time he was losing on the pedal sections? And how would they determine its because of the extra weight? These things can be measured in a number of different ways without much difficulty these days......
In the video the bike has EX471s
There's a 2.3 as well, a 2.4 and a lot of the Maxxis pros have access to the 2.5" pro only version
That last part is what I was aiming at, obviously
Looks looks like a fast mix between Assegai and DHF. Could be a goldilocks. Praying for a super soft / super trail
But will they ever release that dual crown Selva?
Amen. I was really hyped when I saw that Formula was working on that dual crown selva. Dual crowns for enduro make so much sense, but I'm pretty sure there's only one option on the market right now, which is the MRP Bartlett.
On the off chance that somebody from Formula is just lurking on this forum, please show the enduro dual crown some love! It's been over a year since the projected release date...
DVO's page for the Jade X Coil mentions an "X series" so I assume it's just a matter of time:
So as far as dvo dampers go, X Gona give it to ya.
Just some nice details to look at. The built in fork bumper is pretty trick.
It’s not a secret spyshot, but I think this interesting beast wasn’t mentioned yet.
Another shot from the linkage:
That's really giving me Sinister Splinter vibes.... Is it a FTW proto?
Does that thing have a gearbox AND a derailleur?
Looks like it. But I think it could be there to be a tensioner.
Slightly off-topic but I remember happening upon some old MTBR/Ridemonkey threads referencing a "5-bar" Passion model from Sinister that apparently had a variable axle path (they called it Variable Suspension Technology). From what I can gather it depended on the chainstay physically contacted a bumper that engaged the shock linkage, but a different thread with Frank the Welder explaining it more in depth no longer exists. Sounds absolutely crazy but I don't think it ever went to market; it'd be pretty sweet to see someone mess around with that today.
I actually hit up Frank about a year ago about making a modern bike with that suspension design. It sounded like after years and years of getting the patents he got burnt on the deal and his name was left off. (Maybe not all correct info, just what I gathered).
I really like the idea of the design because it will take small hits with a vertical wheel path and big hits it will move the axle path reward. apparently many manufacturers tested his design and praised it. Like above, not sure why it got shut down…
Heres some other photos that I have saved from FTW’s VST
Pretty sure he goes in to it a bit on his episode of the inside line - https://www.vitalmtb.com/features/The-Inside-Line-Frank-The-Welder,2612
I was about to bring that podcast up. Really enjoyed that one, it sounded messy in the end for that 5 bar.
Interested to hear more about this project and if it's from frank or not.
