Unfortunately, there will (unless something very odd happens). I work with GE Healthcare every day. Some of their best support comes from Ukraine. The men are not at work as they are preparing for what seems to be inevitable. I spoke this morning to a woman (after a very long hold time) that said that they are all living in stark terror (I would not be at work).

While "Team USA World Police" needs to stop. We also need to back our allies.

I was planning to leave you alone but this is a complete lie, you did not speak to anyone in Ukraine. I work with Ukrainians daily and their attitude is one of defiance, if Russia is going to come just let them do it and let them see the shit storm they are in for. My professional staff and their families are ready to drop everything and join the military. Meanwhile, there is literally no panic or fear, everything in Kyiv is completely normal right now other than meetings about preparations for what may happen.

How the hell did we get here in this thread. Good lord we need a block feature.

I don't have to call an 800 number I can text my 100+ colleagues and personal friends. Just leave buddy, just leave.

Oh, Pisgah - your wokeness is showing., You have again been proven incorrect and can not handle it. You must be college age and imply unable to handle reality (other than your own delusions and the ideas you are hand-fed to your head).

Maybe one day we will meet at Du Pont, I bet you are a cool guy. Have not been to Kanuga yet (spelling) but we just purchased two additional properties up there to do AirBNB with (about 10 min from the park). Talk about some back-asswards folks...and I thought "FloridaMan" was worrisome.

On a positive note, thus far, ChinaFlu has only killed the genetically inferior or those with a plethora of other conditions. That, for mankind, is a good thing.

This thread is a perfect example of a very vocal minority (god I hope he's a minority) can completely shut down any rational discourse on a subject.

Just in case anyone got this far and is somehow still looking for information.

While the French have put these rules in place, restrictions look to be as tight in Austria (no entry w/out 10 day quarantine for those w/out at least 2x vaccines or 90 days from recovery) and here in Italy (super green pass from boosters/recovery required for hotel, to take the lift, eat outside... and do practically anything here). Theoretically someone could still enter the competition with recent recovery but would need to walk to the top...

No-vax,no party in Europe. Get your freedom jabs y'all.

John Campbell isn't a medical doctor. Even if he were, I'd still say he's full of turd.

It's a shame how nutjobs have sucked Kyle into the vortex and are using his legitimate story as fuel for their disinformation and conspiracy campaigns.

Pisgah....the fact is, our lowest paid, least qualified, least educated staff sign the vaccine cards. That is indisputable. PLUS, the lower lines are easily written on and the stickers fall off....there's your Hitler approved ID for ya. You may not like it...it however is a fact.

I am glad that the two states I frequent (Fl and NC) allow citizens tobe armed. The ignorant left is begging for a civil war.

Just stop. Civil war? Now you are being absolutely stupid. Spend some time and look around. Read your history. Look at the news (not Fox/ Newsmax/ OANN). Real news like the AP. Show me one modern day nation that came out ahead post civil war. I will make it easy for you- there is not one.

You throw around "liberal" like it is a bad thing not realizing that most of the freedoms people enjoy are actually "liberal". The Constitution is a "liberal" document (not a single nation in the world had a representative limited democracy). There is not a state in the UNION that can get by on their own. They depend upon the support and funding from other states. Florida, with its lack of fresh drinking water, elderly population, lack of natural resources, poor level of education, rising sea levels, and lack of arable land will be one of the ones to suffer most. And before you say something like, 'we can get it from ______.' What makes you think that any of the surrounding states would donate or sell Florida any of its resources, without a central system requiring them to? You do not exactly have anything to offer in return. In fact, as of 2014, over 33% (more than $25 billion) of your state operating budget comes from the tax payers of the other states. Good luck plugging that hole. But hey, you and every other state in the UNION has residents with guns. Good for you...

Bottom line is your mindset is the result of the 2 party system pushing you to believe that there is only one way forward when in reality, the "other side" has some great policies as well. You have bought into the idea that 'Conservatives' offer anything other than 'what about-isms' and vilification of others because they themselves have no ideas about what to do. Trumps mentor is the same guy who helped Republican McCarthy launch his "search" for (non existent) Communists in government. Any coincidence that that seems to be the same line again right now? Certainly not. The only difference is this time no one in Congress is willing to step up and say 'enough' from within the Republican party. Why? Because a manufactured fear of the other leads people to blindly follow. People who spew garbage like your 'civil war' is EXACTLY what they want. That is not good for anyone except the politicians. It certainly is not going to do you any good. You say ignorant but I am pretty certain it is not the "left" that is exhibiting that here.

You know of course (derilict) that this November will be a MASSIVE swing to the "right". While that is normal in a mid-term, this one is going to be far further. Take into consideration the economy, world situation (there will be war in Europe in the next 14 days) and the fact that the BREAD WINNERS in the US are just plain sick of apathy.

In our world it is disgusting. Men competing as women. Abortions are 100% A-OK right up till the day of birth...theft is okay, rioting is okay, murderers get cash bond and in NYC illegals may be able to vote (for in theory local elections). We are letting gifted military professionals go due to a ridiculous shot (that is 100% unproven and day to day is even less functional as is proven).

Our people, seriously at a 50/50 ratio are virtue signaling over a freaking ChinaFlu shot - all the while, our Govt will not even admit it is FROM CHINA, and worse, from US funds in a lab that creates weaponized disease! This is simply factual (granted, wont find it on YouTube or Facebook).

The shame is, the liberals used to be "live and let live". That is long past. Look at any college campus and public school system to see pure unadulterated zealots and hate filled bigots. Judging everyone and everything that is not in lock step (and thought) with them and their flawed ideals. Now, oddly, the party who freed the blacks from slavery is the party of "Live and let live". It is stunning how much a current college campus is a reflection of 1930s Germany. The thought police is every Karen.

As for FL, some drawbacks here. The education system is head and shoulders ahead of that in Chicago (my former home town). The healthcare here is far superior in every aspect (but for rural care, that is a national thing however). The drinking water? Hell if I know, all I know is there are a ton of springs and ton of bottled water places making millions of bottles near me. More over, no state income tax and medical malpractice insurance is 30% of that in Illinois. Plus, some super nice MTN bike trails. While FL depends on many other states....in the big scheme of things, at least we are not NY ;-)

Edit - and you are right, we in FL live off of tax dollars from tourists...like AOC who was just here, with no mask :-) Shall we talk Vegas??? Dont hate the player, hate the game.
WTF?

What I mostly don't get is why you are so critical towards other countries for having vaccine mandates for entry while the US does the exact same thing? I'm planning a combined trip to US and Whistler in July from Sweden and me and the family will have to be vaccinated and tested (even our 4 year old, who doesn't have to be tested to do anything here)

Also, regarding the top athletes in the world not taking the vaccine. From the news I've read all the US athletes going to the Olympics have had the jab, no-one has asked for a medical exemption?

While it is proven that China could’ve done a better job at handling the start and did not follow procedures in place that could’ve helped other countries make more informed decisions. It’s a lot easier to ignore the misses made by the USA and not take responsibility for them and blame an already unpopular figure for it if say you are the Republican Party.

If you’d like to learn more about chinas role in the coronavirus I’d suggest pbs. Frontline recently released a special that’s critical of China but is actually based on fact.

I wonder if Vital's updated media kit will have a page views ex-vaccine thread metric? At this rate, they may need it. LOL.

This is a total dumpster fire. Downvotes. Politics. Long enough posts to be triggering but too short to be comprehensive enough where someone might actually see someone else's POV.

Sam Harris noted he can count on one hand the number of times he's changed someone's mind in real time. Sam, for those of you who don't know, is without a doubt one of the smartest humans on the planet and an incredible debater.

All I'll say is this is a pretty fluid subject with new information coming to light every single day. Hence, we're trying to make the most sense of "what is" while having an incomplete set of information. Without coming into this conversation with that mind set (which it seems most don't have), this is a big giant waste of time.

Well I just read through the whole thread and I’m disappointed how many are following the clearly unscientific narrative.

I mean, don’t basic questions like what is the point of travel mandates if the vaccine doesn’t prevent transmission? Or what is the evidence for vaccinating children who are at statistically zero risk from the virus? And that was Delta, not Omicron which has about the same case fatality rate as influenza.

I’m also really surprised the fear-based propaganda has had such a large effect on a risk taking demographic.

JCL get your facts right first before posting. Vaccines reduce transmission, greatly reduce mortality, and Omicron is way way more deadly than the Flu.

Fear based? Not fear for me. Trying to keep the elderly and immunocompromised safe and oh and it would be nice if I could get into the hospital if I happened to break my arm you know while mountain biking.

The Australian Federal Government essentially overruled their own sports governing body -- Tennis Australia (who initially approved Djokovic's participation), on who can compete in one of the biggest sports events held in its borders. The IOC usually frowns upon (and, in some cases, even sanctions) governments meddling into sports organizations or sports governing bodies. In this case, they (and the ATP) will look the other way.

This sets a precedent that I am sure most countries with major international sports events will follow. In the case of the UCI, it's been pretty clear that the policies of the country where the cycling event will be held will have to be complied to unequivocally. A visible example of this is that back-/spine-protection in certain countries are mandated on downhill/enduro races (i.e. France) while not required in others (i.e. USA).

It is very likely that any UCI World Cup event held in the EU will mandate vaccination for participants: this includes, athletes, support staff, officials, and attending audiences.

Whether or not the vaccine is effective is really beside the point. If you are an athlete and you want to compete overseas, you will need to be fully vaccinated. If your political affiliations or belief in the anti-vaccine movement is much stronger than your desire to compete, then you will need to seriously consider a career change.

TA doesn't issue visas. The feds didn't overrule TA's exemption, they cancelled his visa.

Of course they don’t reduce transmission, even the CDC has admitted that. Look how fast Omicron spread around world via vaccinated travellers. Reduce mortality? What evidence is there for that? And in what age group? Pfizer’s own trial of 42,000 showed barely any absolute reduction in mortality. There may slight evidence that they do in the in the elderly, if they’re healthy enough to get to the antibody stage. Omicron has about a 0.2-0.3% case fatality rate, very similar to influenza.

If we wanted to protect the elderly etc we would have vaccinated them only and allowed the virus to rip through the healthy population. Mass vaccination with leaky vaccines in the middle of a pandemic is a virus forcing mechanisms. We likely prolonged the virus multiple months and prevented very few deaths in the process. Ironically this is likely how rats gave us the gift of Omicron, a vastly lower symptomatic variant that will save vastly more lives than any intervention or vaccine we have implemented.

I’m not sure where you are but we also have issues with health care services here in BC, although we have lots of beds, just not enough healthcare workers due to them either being off sick with Omicron (vaccines don’t seem to have much effect) or have been fired due to the mandates.

Look at that, this thread has stuck its head so far up its own ass, we're back on topic:

... the vaccine pass is not restricted to vaccination.

Under the law that took effect on Monday, anyone who has proof they tested positive within the previous six months is exempt from having to show a vaccine pass.

Maybe Đoko will be able to play after all. And maybe the title of this thread is a moot point as well Tongue
True. It only becomes an issue if the country of origin is rated neither green nor orange (as defined by the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs).

A negative Covid test is all that's needed as per current policy.
