I think it's being dealt with lawyers now?
Mariske Strauss has no contract for 2022 yet, she hasn't an offer from any team yet
Jackson to SC would be interesting. Young blood on the team with Greg and Laurie to guide him into the big leagues.
Loris completely changed his set up…. And won on it.
These guys are so in tune with their setup, any deviation (be it good or bad) can have an impact.
‘it’s a bit a big F@#k you to the people the stitched me up’
Don’t think his performance on his last year of intense had anything to do with running fox forks.
It seems Jack had another year so they kept him around when Gwin took over, maybe Gwin wasn't that stoked to have to take him or maybe Jack wasn't that he'd lost his mates and vibe he was enjoying... or both? Or maybe pressure to perform to keep his spot? Not so easy when you don't want to be where you are...
Hard to think of pro level athletes who are unhappy with the team they are in and still do well. As a thought experiment, imagine Greg Minnaar moving to a new team. I dare say he'd struggle, and part of what has made him so successful is he is comfortable and happy where he is. Ignoring the fact that he is a very fast and crafty rider of course.
Jack has certainly earned the right to flip the bird at those who he thinks needs a bird flip, and is classy enough to keep it subtle. Good on him. My AUD0.02 + bias.
The fact the current ews champion had the choice between going essentially privateer or switching series certainly shows the density of talent in the wc/ews ranks and that securing a ride is far from simple. I also wonder if some teams may try to push enduro on more dh racers hoping a good result there can up value and marketing. I don’t think many guys will make the switch as well as jack (jack’s cornering is otherworldly and ews is a lot of cornering) but I would not be supeised if jack’s success isn’t on the radar of a lot of people behind different brands marketing budgets.
This is the shitty thing about rumours too. Jackson is one hell of a marketable guy, with huge social media presence and skills in two sides of our sport. He should be getting paid! He's also, what...16? 17? I would hope that his Dad is helping him out with major decisions! It sucks that turns into "buddy is asking for too much and his Dad is difficult". We wonder why these guys get paid shit.
Good for him! He's going to sell a lot of bikes and water bottles in his life. He should get paid for that.
Now, I don't know anything about Jackson and his family, so what I said above may not even apply here...
