Or, compared from size to size, a larger size will have both a longer reach AND a longer front centre with the same HTA (and a small difference in stack). Making the front centre longer and the reach shorter is just unnatural. The two dimensions are intertwined too much to have opposite changes be logical.
2021 forks, A2C between 36 & 38 is only 2 mm.
But say you have a 2020 36, that's 581mm A2C, same travel 38 has you at 593mm. 12mm difference. That's 0.5deg HA. Stack and reach also changes. Could probably sort with lowering the bars a tad.
Edit. I would be pissed AF if I would be the PM for the enduro. Two new forks, more travel than ever and they can't use it for s$&t.🙄
But the 38 is a lot better than the 36 IMO.
I agree upforking a bike isn’t all too bad to begin with. I ride an upforked prev gen Hightower and the pros outweigh the cons. I just also run a slammed, longer stem.
Seen one at my local bike shop - which is specialized concept store - and one in the woods even.
