11/25/2023 10:08am But you want a high pivot if you want to plow to everything like I do... and if just want a poppy long travel/trailish long travel bike, then there's a looott of them, just not high pivot.

11/25/2023 10:06am I love it so far! Is an amazing descender, just wants to eat. Haven't ridden it a ton or at any resorts yet but so far I feel faster on it then I do on my 'big bike'. Which is an older (2016) Nicolai Ion 20 or whatever it's called. Could be the high pivot, could be the duel 29'ers I'm running or could just be my mind. Will have a better idea once I get a little more time on it. Climbing it's not bad, can be a bit lethargic as the PB article mentioned. But as of right...

9/15/2023 3:39pm Seat height for tall riders often comes quite far above the top of the headset which means the actual seat tube angle affects the effective cockpit length and body position. The advertised seat tube angle used to be 3+ degrees off the effective seat tube angle at seat height. For medium-large riders the seat height is much closer to the top of the headset and thus the advertised effective and the resulting seat tube angle are very close to each other.

9/15/2023 3:38pm I am on the smaller side, 5'6" maybe 5'7", riding their size 2 or Medium and seat tube is not slack at all, maybe if you are at the very end of their largest size, I wouldn't know tall people problems. At least comparable to all the other bikes I've owned and ridden recently. 2022 Transition Patrol, Sentinel, Spire, 2023 Smuggler, 2023 Intense Tracer 279, 2023 Specialized SJ and SJ EVO, 2023 SCOR 4060, 2023 Trek Fuel. Best pedaling and climbing bike out of the bunch too. The ProsCloset has new frames for sale, discounted too. Not the new ones...

9/15/2023 1:16pm I don't want to go back to a slack seatutube! It seems like a perfect bike otherwise but that really bothers me... if I could at least try one but that's a lot of money to send to them knowing that I'll probably be over that rear wheel, like my first Knolly.
They don't have the frame only option...

9/15/2023 9:53am So I went to the Specialized shop here in Canada and the girl really didn't know about a new Enduro at all... She said to go back in october when they'll have 2024 catalogue but for now, they don't even have an embargo for it, just nothing..!? I am not sure about the Slash anymore so I'll wait to see...

9/13/2023 8:00pm Heres my take on it, if youre building a short travel bike, thats not intended primarily for XC riding/racing, a HP makes a tonne of sense. You still get the added benefit of a "platform" earlier in the travel, which can feel more sprightly and responsive, but with additional bump eating capabilities. Case in point would be the Forbiedden Druid past and present. There is a portion of riders who arent interested in the steepest and deepest, but still ride hard enough on chundery trails that this makes sense. It also allows you to more accurately separate braking and body...

9/13/2023 7:59pm The carbon Fluid slots into replace the Optic. But don't worry if you love the current Optic and just want another one of them I'd guess they have stock of them to keep on selling. Everyone has overstock to sell.

9/13/2023 7:58pm why are people, in general, afraid of high-pivots? don't like it, don't buy a norco? there's literally hundreds of options nowadays with pretty much the same geometry

9/12/2023 9:59pm I was thinking that when I recently tried putting a strap around my buddy's Bronson on the back of my truck. The straps on the tailgate pad weren't long enough to get it to velcro back onto itself around the massive downtube. I immediately thought that it was so they didn't have to make new molds to go SL emtb.

9/12/2023 9:58pm I have to admit, the "companies are making regular bikes look more like e-bikes so the e-bikes look more like regular bikes" conspiracy theorists just got a little more ammunition with the release of the Heckler SL.

9/12/2023 9:56pm I just put a set of 11sp XT linkglide shifter ,derailleur and cassette on my enduro bike. the shifting is unreal. Never felt shifting so precise and crisp (I have only used shimano's XT/XTR).. I tried for science using conventional shimano 11sp cassette, did not work... I knew shifter/derailleur work on a different pull, but the cassette is also part of the magic. anyway, just a heads up in the era of "transmission" ; )

9/5/2023 11:16pm I suspect the strategy of many of the big brands (this is especially egregious for Trek) is to fatten up the downtubes of their "natural" bikes so that their ebikes are harder to distinguish from the normal model.

9/5/2023 10:48pm Yes. And I agree that Enduro is not really up to date, only thing that is ok-ish in this day and age is reach and wheelbase, but head angle? Nope. Seat angle? Double nope? Proportional or adjustable chainstay length? You guessed it. And kinematics are not that great either with Almost 3:1 average LR, anyone over 100kg will have very hard time finding the right coil or air shock that can be pumped to necessary pressure.

9/5/2023 10:48pm I have a friend that is a bit overwheight and he bought a Fox DHX2 to replace the X2 and he has like 40% of sag with his coil... he said nobody makes one with a spring rate of about 800 like he would need on that bike! I have 65mm stroke for my 155mm of travel... 60mm stroke for...

9/5/2023 10:37pm If we assume Specialized isn't going to change the layout, all that bike needs is subtle updates to be modernized, and they could race that bike without camo and we would be none the wiser.
