Yea, that newly design Maxxis Shorty(?) should be available soon (I hope).
Have seen it on a number of bikes now

Loic and Finn have obviously been on Maxxis for the past season or two. So I'm assuming that this new new tire Loic is running is another Maxxis. It's Sharpied out so it looks to be another Maxxis.

On a related note, one of the tech editors from another site has mentioned that his favorite wet conditions tire is still under embargo. So it's likely one of these two tires.

Here's a couple of more closer looks at the Maxxis. Jesse and Bernard were both running it at Zermatt (as I'm sure many others were as well). My bet is it's not a shorty replacement. I posted a few pages back that Jordi Cortes commented on his you tube video that it's not a shorty. Possibly a full mud spike vs a cut down version. Definitely looks to be the tire that Blenki was running earlier in the year as well.

No hot patch on the tire in the pictures so no name yet. Although, it looks like on the opposite side (side not facing the camera) there might be some white graphic so maybe a hot patch on that side.

Looks like a short spike mud tire. VERY similar to a Specialized Hillbilly with some modifications. I think the concept is really good. A mud tire without huge long spikes that make them un-rideable on roots/rocks.

Looking at the comments of the post he says it’s a short shocked single crown dissent with a dropper and wide range drivetrain. Probably inspired the devs at NP and they’re just finishing up the real version

It'll be interesting to see what they end up doing. I'm assuming that all the shots we've seen are of the same bike. Dual crown compatible long travel but not a full 200mm DH bike. Like the new slayer or enduro?

That millyard bike is amazing. It was and still is innovative. I'd love to own one with updated geo and a 29 front. I' m really looking forward to the video about the shock and fork. From this vid it looks like the rebound is out of wack, but it's hard to judge given it is not a traditional . The idea of a narrow rear end is intriguing too, but I'm not sure if the wheel would flex a lot or not.

I'm not sure why all the rage over narrow rear ends? The feet are much wider after all. I mean is it for heel clearance or for obstacle clearance?

BTW, I'm kinda wondering what would happen if the swingarm was pivoting around the upper drivetrain axle/shaft instead of the 'BB'. It would be a high pivot and would have less unsprung weight. Sure, the rotational speeds of it currently are low, but not zero! Smile
