^^ For sure it's more a team event and would reward consistency. I'm guessing they are trying to make the race like MXoN- which is really fun to watch and speculate about.

^ What is MXoN? Motocross of Nations Im guessing?

Will it be the same format for women? Team of three? France is strong in Men's but in Women's will CRUSH.

it looked like he was on a 29er at crankworx les gets (going by the webcast). if he was on a 29er, could that be why the blacked out fox?

Would make sense. With the Obsys being an upside down fork, they could squeeze a 29er in there, but the ATC wouldn't neccessarily be correct, the crowns are quite complex to make a one-off just for Scott to quickly test a 29er bike (compared to throwing a FOX on there), the clamping area might be more defined on an upside-down fork (wall thickness and things like that), so a custom fork might not even help, they might not get the full 200 mm travel, etc.

It's probably just easier to do a day of running using a FOX fork, like i said. After all, there were the pictures of Brook running a FOX damper in a Marzocchi fork back in the old Mondraker days, people run different brand tires (Bruni and Athertons in the early Conti days by running Maxxis), etc. Stranger things have happened Smile

On the other hand, i found this on Vital:

"The Obsys is 27.5 and 29-inch wheel compatible running 220mm of travel in 27.5 mode and 200mm in 29er mode as a spacer limits the travel."

And it has a steerer that enables different offsets (+/- 3 mm from the middle 56 mm setting).

Wow man. The color of a bike makes you that upset? You need to step away, get outside, go ride your bike (what ever color it is). Chill man

Thanks for leading my feet back to the ground. Even when blue is the corporate Canyon color, this last week were at least 5 new bikes which were black with the same shade of blue accents. And the previous month, there were another 5. I find this really worrying. Bikes used to have personality beyond what Pantone says should be the color of the season.

Santa Cruz seems to be picking up their color palette from the bargain bin at their local hardware store, but at least they are diverting from the rest of the corporate graphical design pack.

They could always bring back retina-burning shades of highway safety green

Weren't the Senders blue when they first came out, or am I imagining things?

Yep, they were blue and boring, pretty much like everything Canyon has ever done. Don't get me wrong, I am not judging their quality, but the personality of the brand is similar to that of a teen who is entering Hot Topic for the first time, struggling to remember what band shirts cool kids in school wear. Speaking of their actually nice World Cup roster, I can't remember a team launch that was blander than theirs and unfortunately it came out the same day like Intense's, one that was screaming ”fun”, not to mention The Syndicate's. Wink And returning to colors, I find it cool to dig in the 70's car color palette; it definitely proves more courage and creativity than the metallic shades of those cheesy Fast & Furious films. ...or you can always peek at Nike and do Volt. :D Oh, wait, somebody mentioned ”retina burn” already!

Well they are a huge German direct sales company, maybe market research showed they need to do this to cater to their target audience.

Yup, but outside Santa Cruz and maybe Ibis, most of the big brands seem to be consulting the same graphical design studio, or straight drinking the Pantone kool aid. I get the point about convergent evolution, and then there's no denying blue has been Canyon's corporate color since always, but I still find this lack of variety appalling..

At least it isn't some weird ass Santa Cruz color. Or nuclear yellow with purple graphics. I'm old school but primary colors rule. I get that people like the new style but then the alt colors are always gray black monochrome boring. Pivot's red and black 5.5 color is nice though.

In line with Gwin at Snow Summit. Said he is not racing MSA. Focused on making it to France

He said rumours but I think the Syndicate are so close that surly they will do everything they can to keep him, great team, great bike, his first win be silly to leave when its all starting to gel unless Max Commecal wants to sign Vergier and Bruni and turn the Commencal team into the new sunn chippie team from 20 years ago.

GT should sign someone who will put there new bike in the top 10

Reece Wilson should get picked up by another team or bumped up to the Commencal/Vallnord team.

What actual riders are at the end of their contract this year ?

Gwin ? isn't this his last year with YT ?

I love silly season and its not even over yet haha

Well, 60 pages should be enough, right? Wink

Otherwise, it doesn't make sense to me skipping on Vergier either. Why would they? Isn't the Syndicate the most family-like team, where embracing characters is more important than racing results as quick-quick-quick as possible? This pragmatic and business-savvy approach seems to me rather the style of said Max Commencal, not the one of Rob Roskopp, who seems a laid-back kind of dude; but what do I know? I was rather expecting Bruni to join the Syndicate at some point, maybe after Greg retires, than see Loris walk away, but maybe I am just a hopeless romantic. Greg should race as long as he wants to, because he's the shiznit and he proved it yet again this weekend.

GT? Yes, maybe that new bike deserves a better fate. But maybe is deserved a better name also, just to clearly bury the past for good. I like 50's-60's-70's full size Plymouths too and I wanted to like that bike, but I truly think a name change is also good in a psychological way: fresh start, all better!

Much love for racing and you know it,
Mx

If Vergier ends up leaving I’d assume it would be for a better offer. Salaries for solid top-ten riders are pretty substantial right now, and the Syndicate has three of them (each one a podium favorite). It might not be possible to keep them together while also paying all the riders their market value. DH careers are short, and budgets are limited, so I can definitely see someone leaving to take the top spot on another team. I can’t imagine Loris hasn’t been approached with several opportunities for next season.

MSA was the race of the year for me. What race did you guys like best. MSA’s got speed, technical spots, drops. Weather was prime for the race. Was only missing Gwin.
