Added reply in a thread UCI DH Rule Unclear - DSQ for Riding Over a Course-Marking Pole? 10/19/2020 9:20 AM

This topic would make a great video for someone to film at the next WC pit, just sayin'. We've heard from the armchair racers, what about the real racers!

Regardless of whether you think it was a DQ or not Im surprised there is also differing opinions as to whether Bernard was being a whiny baby in Wyn TV. Seemed like he had nothing to say about his own run, and instead complains about others. If all that ... more »

Also rewatching that Tahnee run, I don't think I realized at the time that she ran over the poles instead of leaving the poles. I guess there really is a difference between wheels on/off the ground, as silly as that sounds. The still image in Cathro's ... more »

I find your point counter-intuitive. If the base of the pole is what matters, then why is the rest of the pole there? And why aren't they all set up perfectly vertical?

Revisting this video really makes me miss Amaury. https://youtu.be/JDiyOBVD4hw?t=1105 How different would this discussion (and Suarez's run) be if the poles were not "safe", ie were rigid unyielding pieces of metal. Interesting that the safety component ... more »

I see where youre coming from with that screenshot, but I think it still stands. To me it doesnt matter where the pole originates in the ground. If that were the case, they wouldn't specifically put poles in at extreme angles, rahter than always 90 degrees. ... more »

Added reply in a thread UCI World Cup DH nerd question re: 60 qualifiers 5/11/2020 12:32 AM

Yes exactly, what was the best final result from someone who qualified 61-80, excluding protected riders. For example: Privateer John Doe qualified 69th at Mt St Anne in 2013, but finished top ten in finals.

Before this rule change was enacted, and ignoring protected riders, what were the best results ever posted by someone who qualified in position 61-80? Same goes for women with the change there (sorry I don't remember the numbers off hand). Excited to ... more »

Between working from home and having a lot of time to kill I was thinking about catching up on the XC races I rarely watch. What were the best races from 2018/19? No spoilers!

Interesting to compare how differently things were handled between breaking something relatively small like a crank in this case to when a rival team's leading man smashed a frame in half.

We're talking about a bunch of lunatics riding their bikes as fast as they can down a muddy mountain. Let them be their natural selves, whether they swear or not. I'd rather see an authentic personality than a PR robot.

^ What is MXoN? Motocross of Nations Im guessing? Will it be the same format for women? Team of three? France is strong in Men's but in Women's will CRUSH.

What's everyone think of the EWS world champs format? Seems kind of odd to me on first thought. Do any other disciplines do it that way? (top 3 riders from each nation race together in the championships, and the nation with the lowest combined time wins) ... more »

Will Loris be rocking the #1 plate on raceday? Im assuming he earned enough points in qualifying to surpass Gwin.

Far from demanding? Maybe not at the speeds us mortals ride.

Spomer, can you get the photogs to put together another slideshow of bike compressions, is there a place on this track to see that?

Seems like a troll/joke.

As others have pointed out, you can win without a chain, so why would a better pedaling bike be a good choice? There are always complaints about this track, but I find the live feed really good (way better than fort bill for example), the follow cam of Brendan and Troy a year or...more

Spomer you win some cake for this post. You guessed the 1-2 punch for the first race with a new winner all the way back in January! Similar to your more recent poll, only about 2% (45 votes) in this poll picked Amaury as their top choice. Huge congrats ... more »
