Hello Vital MTB Visitor,
We’re conducting a survey and would appreciate your input. Your answers will help Vital and the MTB industry better understand what riders like you want. Survey results will be used to recognize top brands. Make your voice heard!
Five lucky people will be selected at random to win a Vital MTB t-shirt.
Thanks in advance,
The Vital MTB Crew
The shit talking is alive and well, but it's mainly projected at co-workers and is usually a word salad aginst E-bikes or frames with anything steeper than a 64 degree head angle and cute little sub 440mm chsinstays.
And I'll have you know as a 33 year old home owner/father, both my bikes are proudly 29 front and rear these days. I shoulda listened to you years ago.
- layout is already reasonably compact
- deep threading is all set, if there's 4-5 levels
- collapsing threads would be nice, but not really necessary until there are a *lot* of comments
- single page is already the case
that leaves these two as priorities:
- upvote/downvote count affects sort order
- indication of new comments since last visit
Just adds to the mob / popularity rule that ruins all social media. Why bother to sift through the bottom 90 of 100 comments (On Vital? That might not be the record but it would be close.), there not "popular".
Maybe just leave the comments as-is, and figure out pain points when/if the number of comments increases significantly.
1 - single page load (all comments with the article)
2 - compact design, easy to scroll all and reply
Content is/has always been great, no change needed. There’s a huge number of PB users miffed at this first news. Wait til the pay structure comes in, and that group with the gripe will actively be looking to jump ship. Opportunities…
What this site really needs in terms of structure is a "dashboard" like pinkbike has. A place where all your recent activity and reactions to it are highlighted so you can quickly see what happened while you were away.
It´s the only thing holding me back from participating more on vital. I just can´t be bothered to check all the different sections seperately. Give us quick access to all our current favourite topics and user engagement will skyrocket.
Since we're on the topic of possible improvements anyway, if possible, I think it'd be nice to be able to have multiple quotes in a single post to avoid double/triple quoting. And a PM dashboard. And as mentioned, a single e-mail notification for the first new post witht he next e-mail delivered after you have checked the thread. I had 60 forum notification e-mails when I came from work today
