sethsbikehacks has a modified reverb axs with the battery in the front. he had to do a little modification/fabrication i think but it adds clearance for rear wheel travel on a 29er

They aren’t 26” wheels, it’s 29” front and 27.5” on the rear. The 26 in ‘Fortus26’ is the width of the rim.

That's cool to hear! I definitely think having raced at a World Cup level adds a lot of legitimacy to your reviews as well. Great to have folks riding at that level reviewing products and actively putting them through their paces. It seems like one of the inherent problems with a lot of bike reviews is that reviewers simply don't have enough time to replicate owning the product for a season or a couple seasons, so its good to know you're going out with the intent to smash, haha!

Your comment is completely within reason. And during testing, I had plenty of fellow riders tell me about bad past experiences they had with e*thirteen wheels (especially the LG1 aluminum rim). e*thirteen made it super clear that they knew riders were skeptical about the durability of their wheels and had gone to great lengths to test and redesign the rims and spoke tension/spoke-prep to create stronger, more robust wheels. On top of that, I chatted with my good buddy Dakotah Norton (Intense Factory Racing), and he told me they run the carbon LG1 Race DH wheels with NO inserts, and...

Dr. Bong Hit, PHD, I respectfully disagree. Until recently, World Cup DH racers were drilling out their shoes so they could run the cleats farther back than the stock shoe would allow, and that phenomenon only stopped because shoe companies started offering DH shoes with longer cleat slots. Everything I've seen and everyone I've talked to says that, overwhelmingly, clipped-in World Cup racers run their cleats slammed as far back as they go. For the flat pedal question, a quick google search of Sam Hill shows that he normally has his flat pedals pretty mid-foot. I don't know anything about...

Yes, I believe you're right. Also, the tread on the Tough Tom has openings between the lugs that go all the way across the tire, which from what I've seen makes it not suited to being a front tire due to not being able to grip when laterallly loaded as well. Thank you for the input.

Look at the tread pattern. A front tire mostly has to deal with steering and traction so more aggressive and wider spaced knobs are best. Rear tires are more about power transfer so more central paddle shaped knobs are common with a good edge for cornering. So without seeing them, just from the names, I'd say Nobby Nic in the front to steer you where you want to go and the Tough Tom in the back. It sounds well ready to grind out those miles. Hopefully the add men at Schwalbe put in the miles so I'm right.

I just bought a Schwalbe Nobby Nic and a Tough Tom from CRC, and I'm wondering which one I should put on the front. Both tires are the same width (2.25"), but I don't know the individual properties of each that would suit it to front or rear. Any recommendations are welcome.
