The wild thing is pretty much everybody saw this coming when the big Covid bike boom thing happened. It’s easier to look at objectively when you’re not a bike manufacturer making money by selling bikes, but it was easy to predict that the market would basically tank and and nobody would want a new bike in a few years. Most of the companies couldn’t resist cashing in on the huge demand which is now fuckin them pretty hard.

I have a Oneup Pump/Toolkit on mine. Yeah I know, but sometimes it's a long hike back to the bottom. I also run it with a Single crown during the winter and actually go pedal the thing. Not really any worse than my Spire on the trail.

The best shape for a crank is a tube (stiff in torsion and bending). The best way to maximise the (limited) space is to do it as boxy as you can so the material is positioned as far from the spindle to pedal axis as possible. Chamfering and shapes take away material from the most optimal location to carry the loads.

My Crestline RS205 frame is #38 of 50. They have probably built 200 Ebikes though. They did tell me that they were considering firing up production on the DH frame again though.

Those are actually very nice looking. How many years did it take someone to make a visually appealing carbon crank? The only other one that comes close are the RF era's and I still only thought they were alright.
