you can have 175mm travel with 65mm stroke ( see on PinkB..)
but 18.2 kgs!!! My god
to be fair that is an xl but still, my medium meta am 29 with coil front and rear dd tyres and inserts is a good 2kg lighter
Why the lol? Asking for my Dad.
For those without Instagram, first details on the Atherton aluminium AM170. Apparently more info is in MBUK, one of the few print publications still hanging on in the U.K. Unless anyone else gets there first I’ll see if I can have a quick skim through a copy on the shelves later today and see what else is said.
One of the hashtags is ‘subtractivemanufacturing’ so like most people said, it looks like they’ve gone down the route of CNC machining the lugs, and presumably the swingarm.
U.K. price announced as full build starting from £4800. It’s a lot of money no doubt, but the new Privateer 161 is the best part of £4400 in the U.K. (for now at least!) so I think they’ll sell hundreds. If it’s made in the U.K. for that money, then that’s pretty astonishing ‘value’.*
It also says buy online, so I wonder whether they’ll have reduced the sizing options to a more conventional 4 or 5.
*£4.8k for a bicycle is truly mental but I mean relative to the competition.
Here’s the insta
I was thinking Motobecane's HAL Boost.
canyon strive:ON ebike is out. 5799 and 7999
25mm gaps in reach across sizes
just getting a RAW from thredbo. these are in there. YTs?
R.E Atherton. SM170 (subtracted manufacturing 170). MBUK digested, not an awful lot but a few bit and pieces.
Made in Wales, although the lugs not made in house. Presumably contracted out to other company nearby? Reading between the lines tube and component assembly at Atherton HQ. CNC machined lugs. 7075 aluminium. 12 sizes rather than the 23 currently offered (still not bad). DW4 rather than DW6, twin link, 10 bearings. Full range in aluminium planned soon.
Everything sounded good until you said it had a different suspension layout. Now it'll feel like you're not getting the "real" thing. Maybe. Let's see what the reviewers have to say.
Big Niner WFO vibes.
I was searching around to see if anyone makes magnesium cranks, and I stumbled on this- a fully mag frame & cranks ebike. Claimed weight of 48 pounds with kinda heavy build. Thats lighter than the top end Orbea Rallon. How can they make a mountain bike frame (let alone an ebike frame) out of magnesium without it costing as much as the space shuttle?

Wait actually pricing isn't listed yet. Maybe it will be the price of an aerospace vehicle considering its using aerospace technology
No welds and no glue - cast and then machined?
that will make a nice fire when the battery burns
If it ever gets made - the domain is nearly 4 years old now, willing to bet the page hasn't changed much considering the spec on the bikes too.
Go bother someone else with your crap.
Does anyone have any insight on when the new FOX stuff might be coming out?
Hearing April although some stuff is out already, mostly rear shocks.
If you feel like upgrading your 2021-2023 fork, new cartridges are available already.
I’m not sure why YT bothers with the frame cover. The only thing that makes sense to me is that they are running a new fox thing.
They have nothing to hide with their suspension? You can see everything through the cover when the suspension moves.
I dont know why but YT kind of strikes me as the type of company to do this just for publicity. Id like to be wrong though.
Curious as to how they will approach the new trend towards HBO platforms, heard anything in that area? Also, where are the new cartridges available? Wouldn't mind moving away from the GRIP2 damper
Nothing for HBO in 2024. Most specs are already published: https://www.ridefox.com/fox17/help.php?m=bike&listall=partlist
Forks are still Grip2, just a new compression tune. Complete cartridges and compression tune update kit part numbers are listed at that same link.
You can have your LBS order directly from Fox or I’ve seen a few pop up online at shops such as S4: https://s4suspension.com/collections/service-parts/products/fox-grip2-cartridge?variant=40350248304828
Hmmm. Vorsprung's rear shock is looking more appealing every day...
Just checked my inmail and found out the latest news from Push. Apparently we should get the full specs and order/delivery details for the USD fork on February 29th
25kg.
Those are actually very nice looking. How many years did it take someone to make a visually appealing carbon crank? The only other one that comes close are the RF era's and I still only thought they were alright.
They look straight out of aliexpress.
If by "Aliexpress" you mean "the company that designs and manufactures carbon parts for Lotus", then yeah
Making parts for Lotus ≠ good design.
It's gaudy as fuck. The anodisation for anodisation's sake, seemingly nonsense graphics and big flat faces aren't in the least bit appealing to me.
The best shape for a crank is a tube (stiff in torsion and bending). The best way to maximise the (limited) space is to do it as boxy as you can so the material is positioned as far from the spindle to pedal axis as possible. Chamfering and shapes take away material from the most optimal location to carry the loads.
