Yo, also on the trail crew. Not really down to get into the mud with all of the environmental permitting stuff which is really above my dirt-shaping pay grade, but misinformation about the crew test riding our own course build is where I draw the line. We rode it last week on trail bikes and will be riding more this week. T>B

It always hurts my brain when groups discuss environmental conservation and limiting erosion etc at a SKI RESORT. They already allowed the bulldozing of the runs and there’s 6 months of noise and vibrations from the lifts turning and skier use. I get trying to minimize impact but to me the ski resort has already been significantly compromised in terms of environmental damage.

This is the funny thing about whiteface. It is owned and run by the state, so its simplify the state choosing to ignore another part of the state. It won't get canceled. Some people will be angry, maybe a lawsuit will get filed. The stuff on the open ski runs will get pushed flat again so they can groom and they will argue about it again next year.

I look forward to them explaining that some athlete was robbed because they trained the AI judges using Brendan’s Rampage runs. 🤣

Can we move on from 1 personality joke from over a year ago. Let's talk about the crappiest part of the entire weekend. Hate it for Pinky to tag the anti-HardLine start pole. I've always been of the opinion the start should have a solid wall on both sides of the rider to prevent any "catching" of equipment/gear/clothing & that nub proves my point. It should be at minimum an aluminum/wood half wall to funnel/graze & not chance a bike/gear/clothing snagging it. I think back to the crap way Shaun Palmer lost SkierCross at the X Games catching a tip...

If you're risking your life at 10-12 downhill races per year, you get to celebrate any way you choose. That's it. I get it, it's a forum, but anyone trying to police finish line behavior really is, "an old cunt". Even if you're young. We are living in the golden age of gravity. Peak bikes, peak coverage (ok, arguable, but drones are way fun), and peak riding. And most importantly: peak riders. Between Zanna and Jackson there's a ton of great stories, attitudes, riding styles, and results. I loved Aaron winning everything for those 5 or so years, but as...

Working on the assumption that there's anyone out there whose company is doing well enough for a WC team and can see the creation of one as a worthwhile investment for their brand. In the current climate with the cost of racing rising at an unprecendented rate and the future of the industry not looking too rosy it'd take a...

Is anyone else thinking the YT brand isn’t worth saving? Terrible warranty reputation, plus the latest fiasco with shipping a new bike while existing orders are in limbo, and TWO large scale exits from world cup racing. Why would anyone choose to give them their money in a saturated market?

Possibly. There's an interesting phenomenon during big downturns you see in the investment/finance world where after big crashes a lot of people exit the industry for good. You think that people will learn to spot the bubbles and not repeat the same mistakes, but actually the companies are staffed with either juniors or people who weren't in the industry during the first crash, so they run head first into the next crash 7-10 years later. There are quite a few interesting economics papers written on it, but very few people tend to work through multiple crashes, they mostly exit for...

I feel like this is the most appropriate thread for this info, unless we need a new forum topic. US Customs is stopping the entry of all parts manufactured by Giant in Taiwan over forced labor claims. This has a huge impact on the industry beyond Giant alone. Knowing this administration, it appears to be a lever they are pulling against Taiwan and this could expand to other manufacturers. https://www.cbp.gov/newsroom/national-media-release/cbp-issues-withhold…

Quote from Nicolas: "My guess is that its either a manufacturing defect or the frame was previously crashed and weakened at the downtube." or third option: construction defect.
