Just watched the fastAF debrief: Max said he was in fact very out of breadth at the line and pretty scared when they started to push him into the barrier... Also some teasing that the SC Goodman team might become a much bigger team next year

Wowza! Imagine fans deploying portable bridges and ladders to traverse the moat like something out of the Middle Ages. A Frenchman draped in a flag at the top of the ladder as they swing it across the moat. Les Gets 2027 could really be something some anti-moat nerd doesn't get in the way

That’s the point, no one is making them, it’s sport. The beauty of that is what produces the finals racing, which was excellent. I am all for courses being safe, it’s critical, but the rest, even the racing, you have to leave to chance and design. Trying to bake out all of the variability, chance, weather, in order to have predictability just homogenises things. It’s why it’s so hard to give a shit about tennis.

Yeah, well, my kids were in the front line opposite side of the main stampede, just told them, let the crazy guys run first and the you walk down, you can be buried in the grass in a second.. so, I think the crowd rushing to the finish area, in a way is done OK-ish respecting the race and if you want to gamble it rushing down, you know what you are gettin in ...its common sense.. and this does not need to be policed too much... lots of people doing stupid things and getting carried out by paramedics while...

He had no chafe to make it out of corral. There were people already past barriers in front of him. The only solution I see is a legit moat around corral drawbridge at the finish line 😂😂

They opened up one corner of the finish corral prior max coming down. However the whole place was swarmed so over the barriers was the only way out. personally I think they can figure out a way to keep the tradition alive while making it safer for everyone. Keep the finish corale clear of fans and keep em away till the rider crosses the finish line. If they want swarm the track safely and congregate around the finish corale who cares.

i was under the impression that is more or less what they had. but the problem is max stopped in the corral itself instead of making his way into the second space. and the crowd was already on him by the time officials were trying to usher him over the fence into the second area. it wouldve been on him to go through the corral itself and into the second area right away to be escorted safely. this is PURE visual theory, btw. just what i saw in the videos. the only solution would indeed be to tell the rider...

Loved the scenes at Les Gets, we need more big crowds, it adds so much, but when Max was bent over screaming for joy he was nearly trampled and being pushed against the railing pretty hard. I wonder if a simple re-design of the finish corral could better protect riders while still letting crowds do their thing. Like a second, smaller area at the end of the corral where the final rider's team can wait to go crazy and where the rider can cruise into, and then a gate could be quickly closed to keep the crowds back literally just...

I hit mammoth in early june for one day but the chairlifts weren't running, just the lower bus shuttle stuff. Even then, there was one jump trail that was pretty fun. I assume theres more jumps of similar style when the hill is actually open. It was fun and dialed enough id be pretty happy just lapping that for a few days really.

Im actually about 90 miles north of vegas already on most days, which might make mammoth the sweetest option. Ive been to lee canyon, not a ton of trails but its sure nice to get out of the heat and get some free vert in. Gonna be up there tomorrow actually. Ive explored kyle canyon a bit but havent been across the valley to bootleg. Looking at some stuff online in my little free time looks like ill have to check out bootleg at some point, seems like the gnarliest easy to find stuff thats still close enough for my...
