I love what GG has done with its platform, the fact that you are able to do all that on one bike is so cool. There's a lot of darn good bikes out there!
No one WANTS dangerous races but if we are honest, the local DH leagues/ series tracks are more technically challenging then the WC UCI tracks. The DHSE DH track at Snowshoe was an absolute beast and would make the UCI nervous yet, people rode it and made it down. They adjusted for the conditions and terrain. I think that I have mentioned this before but in most sport, there is an acceptance of injury until there is not. Racing, full speed, down a mountain on a bike is high risk. People and riders accept that. At least for now. Technology...
Indeed, my medium Dreadnought with coil shock and Double Down tires is 36lbs (16.3kg) on the nose. Proper bruiser! Love it PS. After you pass the 32lbs point, you stop caring about bike weight and focus on improving skills & stamina, IMHO.
Just to brag, I'm four years into a GX 11-speed rear derailleur and it still works great. In the same time I've broken A LOT of other bike parts- a frame, multiple wheels, pedals snapped, the GX shifter, a snapped brake lever, multiple blown rear shocks, etc. That old SRAM 11 speed stuff was great.
So I captured some freeze frames and I think the tire comes off before the wheel drops into the hole it explodes in. Why the tire is coming off, I don't know, but the wheel looks normal in the first photo with the tire starting to peel off. Maybe he lost pressure, pushed around that tree and peeled it off. A rim without a tire would be expected to detonate. https://imgur.com/a/9Faz4vJ
Last note: Pierron & Luca were the biggest accelerators down track, with Luca going from 10 down to 3 at the end. Bruni though looks to be the man to beat. Over a second up at split 3. If he fixes whatever happened after that....
The pros bikes are soooo quiet nowadays. Some of the bikes from the lower ranked riders in the rock garden sound alot louder but I assume they are just "normal" loud and not "Orange 222" loud
How did you destroy the two SLX derailleurs? I'm asking because I'm not sure a XTR or GX rear derailleur is gonna be more resistant to direct rock strikes, for instance.
My animosity towards e-bikes has waned in the last few years, mostly because it's obvious they are here to stay whether I like it or not. But I have a legitimate question about their seemingly quick acceptance. Would other outdoor sports accept (electric) motors being introduced to their sport as widely as e-bikes? Would whitewater kayakers suddenly be ok with kayaks with motors? Would hiking areas start allowing offroad electric segways for people who aren't able-bodied enough to hike? Electric cross country skis to get into the backcountry quicker? I'm not being a smart ass, this is something I've thought...
