I just once want someone to show how to change out fork oil in the dark on a cold winter evening on the front porch(that the missus is still pissed about all the chain lube drips being on) with the wrong tools and stuff falling between the slats into the leaves underneath and digging around in the leaves with a tiny headlamp and refrigerator magnet desperately hoping to find the piece of crap metal (was it even steel) so you can ride with you buddies stupid early the next day.

Same, but I don't usually travel with fork oil and some people still find that part daunting, messy, and/or time consuming. Also, that might not qualify as being lazy enough. The point is not to replace or avoid service, but to keeping them feeling as fresh as possible in between. I've found it works a bit better and lasts a bit longer than simply holding the bike upside down for 30 seconds.

Because composite pedals are consumable. The one up broke in half after like 2 weeks. It’s a shame, the grip was fantastic (as was the replacement policy). Buy nice or buy twice.

Lots of fantastic cyclists in there, but Rachel Atherton in particular is so dialed on the bike. Visibly more composed and on-point, and you can see why she's won 37 some-odd World Cups and 5 rainbow jerseys. Bummer she exploded her Achilles mid-season. Also, if we can get 250 people to pre-order and pay in full. I'm sure we could build a Phantom V3 frame that weighs in at only 2.5lbs including shock and axle. Same geo and everything. Only caveat is this frame will only come with a 7 day warranty, and High School NICA rules will be enforced. Both wheel's must stay on the ground at all times. Very well said Noah, and fully agree. I believe it was Graves who was once quoted at an enduro race saying something along the lines of. You get to choose the parts you put on your bike, parts you trust, you don't get to choose the wight of the bike using those parts. I can't speak for all the bikes in this test, but since I was personally responsible for picking the spec. on the Banshee Phantom, I feel relatively qualified to offer a little insight on that one. Guessing you don't like admitting "I'm wrong". Fun fact, I do it all the time. Liberating. I also learn that way. Yes, more aggressive riders would prefer a more progressive design. I've ridden the bike. It isn't God Awful, but I did find it to use more of the travel more often and find bottom more often. Not my favorite feeling for a sports car derived short travel bike. I'm riding a 2017 Orange 324 with 200 mm rear travel set up as a AM/FR/EN/DH bike (or mountain bike); it also has a 212mm Vecnum Nivo Dropper, 32:9-46t cassette on 150mm hub. I have had it set up with 27.5 front and rear with a Fox 40, but it was a bit heavy for wheel lifts, and the front wheel felt small after having some mullet bike setups. So now i am running it happily with 180mm 29" fork and 29" front wheel. The seat angle is about 74deg, and i can get my post low enough to buzz...

So I designed this thing, a 205-220mm travel (currently at 215mm) Downhill bike. I've been riding it almost everyday since I was able to tune the suspension to my liking (ditched the harsh EXT for an X2). It performs very nicely as a downhill bike going down yet still climbs like any other efficient enduro bike can. Sure, enduro bikes have become more capable and are creeping up to downhill travel numbers but why don't bike companies just go all the way. They keep teasing us with slight increments every year. There must be a market for such bikes...

Jeff, slow people don't need heavy tires, strong wheels, or real brakes. This, in turn, makes their bikes much lighter.
