I also heard this. For example, I was told the waiting period for a certain set of Shimano brakes (not told which level of brakes) was over a year.

I mean, this is the rumors thread, not the hate on brands from the bottom of your heart thread. Feel however you want about brands, but that's unnecessary. You don't even give a reason for your issue, just that you don't like them and they suck with some generic complaining about things that affect a ton of brands, some much bigger than cube.

I always remember the 1st time I saw that massive root ball the guy was about to drop down in the fog. Cover photo. I distinctly remember it clearly and wanting to find that exact spot at some point in life. That was my image of the North Shore. Foggy, mossy, slick, monster root balls & just trying to ride it out. Would be nice if they made a come back under someone with a monthly centerfold and contest. Sell a wall mount picture frame for the centerfold so you could rotate out pics on your wall each issus.

Bike withstanding, the other publications haven't offered a whole lot of really solid content in years. Just head to Powder's homepage. Follow their editor on Twitter. Look at what they are pushing. Its kind of a mess. I think this could be a good thing. The mags could get bought (for pennies on the dollar) by a company that wants to do something with those names. If they all adopted a bit more of a Vital model (as far as quality of content online goes), dropping the "what fleece is best for fall" stuff, putting more resources into killer storytelling...

Agreed Brian Peterson and I hope you're right. To me, Bike mag/online has always been genuine and creative, not just commercialism like MBA.

I just wanted to stop talking about theoretical maths and bolt one on the bike and ride it. I didn't do any real calculations or anything- I understand the basics of the math but I'm not going to try and figure out natural frequencies of a DH casing Minion DHF 2.5 with 28psi in it on a 70deg F day. Too many variables. I think we were in the right ball-park in terms of mass/rotational speed but yeah riding it was so terrible. Also packaging, weight, complexity, cost etc. It's worthless for a bike. Bikes are already plenty expensive/heavy/unreliable. Working...

If the industry had stayed with 26" wheels, there would be no need for dual crown "enduro" forks, 223mm brake rotors, 4-piston brakes on light-duty trail bikes, etc, but with 29" wheels there's so much more leverage and inertia. A 29" 170mm fork is over an inch taller than a 26" 170 fork, typically with less bushing overlap. They twist, they bend, they flex, and they creak. Most of all, they feel sketchy in really rough/steep/fast terrain. Haven't ridden the new crop of 38mm single crown forks, but at 190 pounds and 6'3" I can substantially support the argument that...
