TEAMROBOT Added a comment about feature Vital Rides the All-New YT TUES on the Losinj World Cup Track

Iceman, there are a lot of thoughtful reasons in your response in favor of attending the bike launch. I've never thought about the value to a tech editor of touching and seeing a bike in person. Similarly, seeing a World Cup race up close and personal will change the way you look at World Cup bikes forever. But I still don't think riding one bike in isolation in an unfamiliar venue in unfamiliar conditions gives much perspective on how the bike handles. The question isn't "Did the bike feel good?" I wager the Tues felt great, but... spoiler alert... so...

Honest question: Why would Vital send a representative to test a bike under these circumstances? A handful of runs on an unfamiliar and scary track doesn't leave much room to make a meaningful impression. I can see how a "First Ride" article like this is great exposure for the brand, but I would be hard pressed to write anything meaningful about a bike after five runs in an unfamiliar locale.

I don't think anything is scarier than an unexpected/harsh fork bottom in a dicey situation. Having your shock bottom isn't that big of a deal, but I know I build "safety travel" into my fork setting. I almost never bottom my fork, and I like it that way.

They could build an uphill sandpit in the track. Everyone would have to race the same uphill sandpit. Strictly speaking, it would be fair. If it was short enough it probably wouldn't even change the outcome of the race. But do we want uphill sandpits in our races? Probably not. Is it reasonable to say uphill sandpits are dumb? I think so. I'm hearing a lot of ideas that amount to "the track is the track, and you shouldn't complain or question it." That seems like a limiting attitude to me.

TEAMROBOT Added a comment about feature Introducing the Updated 2019 RockShox Lyrik and Super Deluxe

Thanks, I read the article... And that doesn't help if you want the new damper with separate hi and low... Then your upgrade is around $300... And besides, how shitty and passive aggressive is it to use ellipsis in online forums...

Looks like a good iterative improvement. Odd that it's essentially OEM only, aka if you don't have Boost wheels no new fork for you. Obviously you could buy the old 15mm lowers separately and swap, but that's an expensive PITA. Wonder if it will be available with old style 15mm or 20mm lowers at some point.

Go-Ride's solution is really interesting. I'm curious whether the open-cell bumpers will fatigue and deteriorate from use, humidity, or UV. Like is that something you'd have to replace fairly often?
