My advice to people: do not weigh your bikes - unless you're trying to build up a hill-climb specific bike. There have been a lot of tests and studies about bike weight, and the consensus is, it doesn't matter nearly as much as people think it does. For some reason, we all still think trail bikes should be ~28lbs, it's been that number for as long as I can remember. It was that number when I worked at shops - before we had dropper posts and tire choices beyond: folding, wire bead, or DH. When forks had 30 or 32mm...

Sorry, but no. This is the same old adage of people going "VPP has this type of leverage ratio curve (the upside down U)". As we've seen in the current crop of VPP bikes, this is not true. There is a reason the engineers at SC designed the old VPP stuff this way, just like there is a reason Ibis has gone with the leverage curve above. It really has more to do with how the curve works with an air shock paired with your average noodling dentist As far as Giant's DH bike, I'm not sure why they...

This same argument is happening in reverse right now in the comments for the "Test Sessions: Five Slack, Short-Travel 29ers" review. Over there someone is complaining that the test bikes are so heavy, so why even bother buying a short travel bike? "If it's going to weigh the same as an enduro bike anyway..." blah blah blah. TRAVEL NUMBERS DICTATE...

I remember some years back Team Robot had a list of active riders who had won at least 1 World Cup. Anybody have an updated version of that list? Would be interesting to compare the list of all winners with list of multiple-time winners (2 or more WC wins), but maybe even more interesting to see a list of active riders who have placed 2nd (or maybe just podiumed) but never won... Somebody get Eliot Jackson on the phone.

amazing work everyone! keep it up! I liked how BT gave his 'add to quiver' bike and his 'one bike quiver' bike. and a massive shout out to Banshee for performing against the plastic, pretty, and pricey bikes. awesome format and the geo nerdage is sweet too.

Here’s a thought: no one gets their first win this season. Tahnee, Tracey, and Myriam will be healthy and Rachel will be back on the bike. On the senior men’s side, it’s tough to bet against a stacked winners circle that already includes Loic, Gwin, Troy, Amaury, Laurie, Danny, Loris, and Minnaar. Edit: Tahnee’s broke. I forgot. She might be...

here's a results sheet from the first ebike world champs last year - https://www.vitalmtb.com/news/news/RESULTS-First-Ever-UCI-e-MTB-World-C… - i don't understand why you'd have a normal xc race, just with an ebike, either. fingers crossed there are ludicrous, technical climbs or something that would actually challenge the capabilities of the ebike. studbeefpile's idea of racing up the DH track after the race is the best idea yet.

These always feel like previews for the real video. I'm sure John could talk for hours about setup and what not. Instead were left with a few sound bits and b-roll

Stop trip’n on the numbers go out and ride your bike then ask if something doesn’t feel quite right chasing numbers is gonna make you crazy. Play with your set-up that you are currently using like sliding your forks up or down in the clamps will have noticeable effect on your bikes handling. Measure the stanchion tube height make sure there both the same.
