I vote Luca Shaw. He's had some really good placings while looking so entirely in control. And didn't he get second once last year? I think he's had a good off season of training and mental focus and will come out swinging this year.

I think David Trummer might be a contender especially now that YT is backing him.

Shark Attack Jack.

Mick Hannah will get his second (Vigo 2006). He'll also win World Champs.

Gwin has potential. Just can't seem to find the pace.

Here’s a thought: no one gets their first win this season. Tahnee, Tracey, and Myriam will be healthy and Rachel will be back on the bike. On the senior men’s side, it’s tough to bet against a stacked winners circle that already includes Loic, Gwin, Troy, Amaury, Laurie, Danny, Loris, and Minnaar.

Edit: Tahnee’s broke. I forgot. She might be 100% later in the season and might notch some wins, but she’ll have an uphill battle for the overall.

Will Tahnee be back in time>?

Already won snowshoe. Would be great to see her beat the full field though.

Think a new winner is unlikely this year. Höll and Harrison are my best bets

Shaw is incredibly fast, his Seeding times prove it time and time again.... he just needs to keep it on 2 wheels on one of those runs and he will get the chocolates.

As a betting man, the money's on Luca Shaw.

Dark horse candidate: Bernard Kerr

I hope Luca Shaw.

Also, does anyone know if a Junior-male or female has ever won a world cup in their debut elite season?
Ok, well since ACC or Nico because I am sure they did haha.

I'm going to take Dak Norton or Charlie Harrison. Mentally (obviously physically too) I think they are both in good places and will be throwing down out the gate.

Minnaar? He got his first WC win at 19 (2001). But back them juniors raced with Elites, so he had already been racing elite for a few years. Under today's rules, would he have been in Junior until that season?

wasn't Danny's epic World Champs win in his rookie season? Granted it wasn't a "World Cup".

That's a good point, when did the rules change again? You'd have to back track it through quiet a few seasons to figure that out

2010 was his first year as elite by his birthday. As noted previously all jnrs had to race in Elite for their 2 years or 3 if you go back to the early 2000's.

Hill finished 2nd at MSA in 2004 which was his first year Elite if you go by his age (and a few 3rds too).

I think Charlie will win his first. If he doesnt then I'm going for Charlie.

(That would be Harrison and then Hatton).

I remember some years back Team Robot had a list of active riders who had won at least 1 World Cup. Anybody have an updated version of that list? Would be interesting to compare the list of all winners with list of multiple-time winners (2 or more WC wins), but maybe even more interesting to see a list of active riders who have placed 2nd (or maybe just podiumed) but never won... Somebody get Eliot Jackson on the phone.
