Could be to encourage more people to race, or to show the potential for these smaller setups and to then increase the number of them that pop up around the nation. If people see that a National Championship can take place at a 700ft mountain, then we might start to see more bike parks pop up because Nats also means $$$ to the local community. Either way, this will be cool and hopefully start to give more opportunity for growth of the sport with a different spotlight.

Sad that our DH national championships are going to be held on a <700ft vertical track that isn't lift serviced and is a 2hr drive from a major airport. Nothing against Rock Creek, it's just sad state of affairs when none of the western ski resort/bike parks have interest or willingness to put on a national championship race. Blame is on USAC for not paying good venues to put on national champs.

Doesn't seem like Rock Creek has nearly enough infrastructure for a National unless they change some stuff. Soggy field to park in and a hike up the gravel road to get to the shop and shuttle pick up area. Probably a few hotels in Brevard 25 min away. Either way im excited and will check it out since its about an hour from me.

What a fickle, showy bunch we are, when we lament the purchase of likely the most powerful, blingy, and top rated brakes on the market, simply because there is the possibility of a newer, more obscure brake coming out (that we know nothing about)

Super hard to tell if that's just a chain guide or an idler w/chain guide. Chainline looks pretty normal (non-hp). Bash guard below looks to extend the same distance from the bb as the chain guide, I'd guess non hp, but not sure. Has there ever been a dw link hp bike? Looks like a dw to me. There's dual short link hp bikes (canfield, crestline vpp, proto v10) but I don't recall dw high pivot. Edit: I mean dw link like ibis and pivot use, not the new jack chain hp that dw patented recently (and is the lugged...

Really hard to see for sure but looks to be a mid pivot. Looks to my eye to have a covered idler sticking up slightly from the bb area.

CNC machined front and rear triangles. Large range reach adjust (spam can) head tube. Mega thick chainstays. Very good looking. If it is just a prototype mule for testing it sure does look sexy and refined for one. Then again it's unno, so it shouldn't be surprising that their proto mule looks better than most production bikes!
