Gwin was also running the harder dual compound up front over the super soft 40a Aquila. I think that sort of compound is useful on super slick flat surfaces like slab rock and roots, but I would guess is damn squirmy on hardpack and under big g-forces.

I spent a year on Enve wheels, and broke a bunch of them, but what surprised me most was how bad the wheels handled. When I put them on, yes, I immediately noticed they were stiffer and more confidence inspiring in high g-force berms, but I thought the wheels handled like dogshit on flat or bumpy turns. They were too stiff, and they bounced around a lot in anything less than a locked-in mega berm. I didn't fully realize this until I broke another rear wheel and went BACK to aluminum, and it was like night and day on flat...

TEAMROBOT Added a comment about video ROCK-SMASHING DH! Vital RAW - Lenzerheide World Cup

These are so much better than any other DH media out there. It's like being at the race. I know the six minute version is "more boring" than the shorter, more intense Vital RAW of the past, but getting to see rider after rider trying the same section gives a much more accurate representation of what downhill racing is. It's methodical, it's repetitive, it's intellectual, and yeah, it's kind of boring when you're watching trackside. Hell, it's actually kind of boring when you're racing. A lot of the time is spent sitting and waiting, or talking, or hiking. DOWNHILL FOREVER

I am just going to go out there on a limb and say i hate that the term "playful" is an attribute bikes are measured by.

Woo, most people don't live in Truckee or Reno, so they actually have to drive their asses to the ski resort and often times pay for lodging and food in the process. Plus 99% of people get ski passes, which are expensive as shit. Yeah, maybe I'll grant that backcountry skiing is cheaper than being some asshole who wanders off the street and pays full pop for an MTB at a shop, but that's apples to oranges. Folks who ski backcountry exclusively are uber uber advanced skiers, and the equivalent to that guy in mountain biking absolutely, positively does not...

Based on literally everything I know about suspension, a shock that doesn't sag (and thus has no negative travel) sounds awful. I'm really, really curious about your thoughts after test riding this shock. Please don't pull punches this time though *cough* *cough* Marin *cough* *cough*
