5/11/2026 7:52am Cartert Bilawchuck is a 16-year old who made his own bike, it ended up looking incredibly polished - and rad ( it was a lock for Vital BOD of course too)! This deep dive edit is full of insights into the trials and tribulations behind pulling off such a project, I figure it should be of interest to the followers of this thread:

5/1/2026 9:04pm I bought an EXe when they first came out and bought a second battery at the same time. Back then, you could purchase a second battery for a couple hundred dollars more than the range extender. They weren't really anticipating people doing this. You had to separately buy all the brackets to attach to the battery to attach it to the frame. I think the pricing spread has moved substantially. If you ride places where it's common to cruise back by the trailhead during the ride, this setup is amazing. I also picked up a power station on black Friday...

PUSH Industries Liked a forum topic Enginerding: Inverted Forks and Front Hubs
4/19/2026 9:08pm Front Hub configuration, style, and bearing size have little influence on the performance that you get out of a conventional or "right side up" MTB suspension fork. This is due to the fact that the lower legs are one-piece, connected by the lower leg fork brace. The same cannot be said for manufacturers of inverted MTB forks. With an inverted design, the hub ties the two lower legs together. The more robust the hub, the more robust the performance from the chassis and vice versa. Is it possible that we'll see a shift in front hub designs as Inverted forks...

4/19/2026 9:05pm If you're in town and want to ride, hit me up. I live near Santa Monica (in the Palms neighborhood of LA). Having said that, most of the trails closest to your office in Santa Monica burned in the recent fires, so it will require driving and potentially being stuck in the worst traffic this side of Jakarta. The best stuff is farther, but as Spomer pointed out Rocky Peak in Simi Valley is sick and benefits from a very real, very modern bike, and isn't that far. The other thing I'll warn is that riding here without a local...

4/19/2026 9:03pm Also, if you want more of a proper trail bike trail at Simi Valley (instead of just smashing straight down the fall line), Chumash trail is phenomenal. Here's a ride I did there, when I accidentally found it: https://www.strava.com/activities/14228291446 And here's the TF link for the Simi Valley trail system: https://www.trailforks.com/region/simi-valley-5341/?activitytype=1&z=12…

4/18/2026 2:06pm Intradrive Gearbox Powertrain Tucked away in a tiny little booth on a side row was Intradrive. Turns out they're a small Scottish company that's been developing an 8-speed gearbox-equipped motor for eMTB brands dubbed the GD8. Shifting is wireless electronic, there's a 480% range, and the motor can output up to 700w. The founder said that the motors are built and wound in Scotland and that vast majority of the parts and materials are sourced from Europe if not made in-house. There's an emphasis on serviceability, and the unit fits a Shimano EP8 mount pattern. The one on display used...
