9/23/2024 3:22pm It works as advertised for the most part. There are still scenarios where pedal kickback can be encountered, but they should be pretty rare. Let's consider the current generation Nomad for an example. The suspension has to compress about 80mm to get 18 degrees of pedal kickback. Because you are always guaranteed the same amount of slack in the hub, on any compression smaller than this it does make pedal kickback impossible to encounter. If you are compressing your suspension more than 80mm, it then becomes a question of how fast is the shock moving when you hit the 80mm...

9/23/2024 3:19pm I did a test this weekend with and without countershox on the bike. Nothing else was changed besides one on the fork and one on the seattube. The feeling in my hands was night and day more comfortable with Countershox. I was running data sensors on the bike for suspension, axles, bb and headtube of frame. This graph is a snippet showing the front axle movement compared to handlebar movement in vertical direction. Red is bars and Yellow is axle. You can see the bottom graph between big hits the bars are moving vertically much less. The peaks of the...

9/23/2024 3:17pm If you’re TMD is sprung with coils, you could leave it open via a hole in the side somewhere and then the volume difference would be only the volume of the solids.

9/23/2024 3:15pm Two opposing springs doubles the effective rate if I'm not mistaken. Since they experience the same displacement they are springs in parallel. If both springs are preloaded the same amount x1 and have the same rate k, then the combined force on the mass is (k(x1)+kx)-(k(x1)-kx). Preload cancels out and the force on the mass is 2kx. So that would put 600 g at about 32 Hz

9/23/2024 12:34pm I installed the kit on my 2023 GT Force Carbon Pro as I was looking for the suppleness increase off the top. If you're interested in decreasing bottom out resistance while keeping the same feel as your linear can over the initial stroke, it will absolutely do that. My personal opinion is that best performance is to run slightly stiffer...

9/23/2024 11:59am Yeah, as someone else already said, high quality syringes like in the Sram kit make a huge difference for a few reasons. One is that the bore of the syringe will start, and stay, more round than the more flexible plastic on your garden variety medical style ones. Another big thing, particularly when pulling a vacuum, is that the pieces of the plunger are all firmly affixed, usually screwed together, with an o-ring (or similar) seal, whereas on the medical style ones, the whole rubber tip (which forms the seal) of the plunger is just pressed on to the plastic...

9/23/2024 11:59am From my experience, the bleed kits with the hard syringes like the ones in the Sram Pro kit are a huge improvement. I believe Park and Jagwire use them in their kits as well.

9/21/2024 7:32pm From my experience, clamping the levers to the bar is only useful if you lever bleed after. Just does a solid job of bringing all the bubbles to the top of the system

9/20/2024 8:38am Try opening it less, I usually aim for about half a turn at most. I think you might be pulling in air around the thread when you open 1.5 turns.

9/18/2024 1:03pm What I find confusing about the new Stumpjumpers is they offer it in a coil version with a 27.5 wheel and they've corrected geo for the smaller wheel using the upper link just like with the previous Stumpjumper, which significantly reduces progression. So the most linear bike in the entire lineup comes with a coil.

9/18/2024 1:03pm Stumpy alloy is massively heavier. Thats a bummer. Was hoping it would be a 1lb weight penalty, but looks to be almost 4lbs! S4 carbon weight = 6lb 4oz, where S4 allow = 9lbs 8oz.

9/16/2024 1:41pm i think there is a thread of MTBR about this. Mavens are sick, but 2 of my 3 sets had junk in the lines and played up with the wandering bite point... it was pumping up then suddenly move to the normal spot - they were bled/setup by 4 different people(3 shops and me) - did all the bits and pieces correctly etc - 3rd set is good. - both those 2 sets were refunded. I've never seen so much crap come out of a brake set before On the flip side, The mavens are so immense, its the only...

9/10/2024 8:15pm I had a similar problem with MTX gold pads a couple months back on my XT/ZEE setup. Both pads would bed in well, then I'd a few minutes into a descent and immediately glaze the pads. I tried cleaning/sanding/rebedding 4 times and finally gave up. Contacted MTX and received friendly customer service but the guy couldn't give me an exact...

9/10/2024 1:06pm The real hack is to pickup the linear XL can for the new SDU. Did that on my 160mm enduro bike and added significantly better sensitivity whilst not having to run a comically large shock. I'm only 165 lb's suited up but I ride fairly aggressively and even over full park runs I haven't been able overheat the thing. Rode...

9/4/2024 8:31pm This is exactly why I decided to keep my TS Maxima. They felt exactly as you described. "Squishy lever" doesn't mean much when you have so much power and control on tap with little effort. Some people get too obsessed with a firm bite point

9/4/2024 8:27pm Went from riding a variety of alloy wheels (Spank, DT, CB Synthesis) to the new ERA's and have been loving it so far. Takes a couple rides to get used to the flex characteristics if you're riding high-speed stuff but they're pretty much just better or equivalent in every way to alloy. The spin up speed is noticeably less (-150...
