But what other part could you risk? I mean bad grips could slip/rotate on a landing. A bash gaurd that doesn't protect could leave you with a bent chain ring ir dented downtube. A bad chainguide might be stealing watts? Reducing chain life? But I agree that i can't think of it causing a wreck?

I think it depends on the component or accessory. My $4 ISCG05 Chain guide has worked great! I would never buy handlebars, cranks or pedals there, let alone a fork. My usual thought process is, if it fails, will it cause me to wreck? If so, get something legit. If not, I might roll the dice.

But then again he’s got the reach adjust headset on there, so maybe he’s more fussy than he lets on. Sure seems to need the height just so… I just realized something: whenever you see a rider visualizing a course, eyes closed, hands out in front; their hands never look like they’re holding a handlebar. They always look like feet on pedals.

Interesting take on this bike and Banshee’s geo in general. It’s the best bigger-travel bike I’ve personally owned. I LOVE the high stack, long rear and conservative reach, but I’m tall with long limbs. Anecdotally, I know a ton of people who love these bikes, but they tend to be taller.

Big point on YT (in my measly two cents) is that the pretty much made their name in a big way DIRECTLY from World Cup racing, specifically DH. Love him or hate him, Aaron Gwin made their name big time in the market outside a relatively small Euro market and the DJ crowd. The have been slowly fading from that exposure as well as having warranty and stock /deliver issues well before the COVID mess. Curious to see how this plays out.

Them bailing on big talent is directly in their name "Young Talent". Yeti consistently has done this outside of Ritchey as well for over a decade. I think what we are seeing here is a brand that is struggling to become a real company. Bro's starting a brand don't think about managing supply chains, warranty departments/customer service, trying to figure out shipping boxes, etc. Those the things are what take a good idea to a great company.

If there is one constant with YT, it's they consistently bail on successful racers. I think it boils down to the fact that their business model is to cut every single corner when they can when it comes to people & to spend money in big chunks when a windfall happens. Now that we're several years into the YT experiment, it feels like we're seeing a trend that they really are just winging it as they go.

My guess is money is driving this decision. And if so, I'd feel a bit put-off if I was a YT Mob rider, knowing that the marketing budget is soooo high (look at their launch videos that cost hundreds of thousands to produce) but can't afford to sponsor riders. Here's to hoping the riders land new rides for 2022!

Currently running Reserve 30/30 rims with i9 Hydra hubs for All Mountain/Flow Trail use. Are there any lighter weight options that would not be sacrificing durability? Thanks, Blake
