8/15/2025 2:52pm Did you also complain when Sam Hill was taking every inside line imaginable that he wasn't riding the course as intended? Such a killjoy. Your making out like watching Skiers tackle The Streif isn't one of the coolest things ever, which it most certainly is.

8/13/2025 5:30pm Hey Jeff, I'll definitely sign up for some testing for you. My suggestions are this, have a countdown mode of 10s that detects rider movement to prevent people taking a rolling start, and also make it audible so you go at the beep. This is because most of us (me and my mates) ride with our phone in a pocket...

8/12/2025 5:41am Agree on the Tacky, just like the dhf did not like it as a front tyre, loved it as a rear, but I think it rolls faster than a dhf as a rear tyre. Albert, it’s an Hans Dampf on steroids in my book, more braking, more grip, rolls a tad slower. Way better than the aggressor in everything but rolling perhaps, even though softer rubber and radial chasing make it roll better over roots and stuff than the hard rubber on the aggressor

8/11/2025 1:57am I can't comment on Fox, but the big brands, specialized and Trek pay Shimano in installments after they get the product, so pretty standard credit lines. It's detailed in shimano's reporting, they declare their accounts outstanding, the bigger the customer the better credit terms is the standard. There was rumours that Trek were in arrears for payments to Shimano over...

8/7/2025 1:49am People will feel a lot of things if you prime them before they try them. EDIT: I have a friend who, whenever we're testing something new and he is the first to test, always says "you'll try it out yourself" when I ask him what it's like and when you get your turn, he asks what did you feel or think, not "did you feel x". Because he wants an unbiased feedback. Anywho, all this talk about kinematics is all well and good, but the first thing I though when I saw the bikes was "even if it works, who...

8/6/2025 3:46pm Can someone just plug it into linkage and put an end to this. You can't just keep adding more links and expect the fundamental concepts of linkage suspension to change. My theory is he's an owner of a bearing company and looking to increase sales via delicate subterfuge.

8/5/2025 3:25pm Kg x 51.716746 mmHG is so much easier, since my shock pump reads in mmHG already.

8/4/2025 3:26pm Could also be too much oil in the air spring lower, it reduces volume and increases the ramp that can "burp" the oil out when you bottom the fork. But it would have to be a lot more oil than the standard 15/20cc for this to contribute.
SteveClimber Added a reply to Modern Geo Talk: Chainstays, Stack, Reach, and Bitching About It
8/1/2025 5:20pm Your lost in the sauce bro. People are trying to discussing geometry, specifically reach stack and FC/RC and your dragging suspension into it. We know suspension kinematics change when you change any member of the linkage, they are just trying to discuss it in an isolated scenario as its simpler. No need to go swinging your "i worked in suspension...

7/31/2025 6:18am 1) I think you're at the exact peak of the Dunning Kruger graph here. 2) That was a hint to get this discussion out of this thread.

7/28/2025 3:21am I actually think lubricants or oils are negative these days with modern nipples, specifically DT Pro lock. I think the theory that it stops binding isn't nearly as important as re-tensioning after proper stresses and allow for stretch in the first couple of weeks. In my opinion people do not stress the wheels nearly enough during the initial build. Pro...
SteveClimber Added a reply to Specialized prototype- Why are they allowed?
7/27/2025 11:33pm Remember the era where a bunch of the teams ran re-painted versions of other companies frames (most famously the Intense M1), prototypes are tame compared to that.

7/25/2025 4:03pm I think we all know the downfall of Intense is when they went to Kenda tires, any brand to takes sponsorship money to race on concrete tubes is doomed. Jokes aside, that was a very curious choice and really started the downfall of the racing program, not sure how it factors into sales, but I'm sure it doesn't help.

7/24/2025 4:33pm Haven't Intense US been struggling for a while too? They've been in a bit of a backwards slide for quite a while, their design and philosophy just feel outdated to me

7/22/2025 10:33pm Could also just be a defect in that tube, carbon defects are pretty common and responsible for most failures. Yes they use tubes to minimize the chance of defects as they are easier to manufacture, but it doesn't make it zero. Charlie Hatton rode the same frame for the whole of a WC season, which is pretty nuts. The frame...

7/19/2025 3:23pm Oh I totally agree that Markus wanted the sale. But ultimately it was Nicols and majority owner Ardian in charge during the downfall. Flossman was CVO until February, the buck stops with Ardian about how they're in this mess now.

7/19/2025 2:23pm There is absolutely zero chance the German government bail out a tiny bike company. The Germans cant even bail out themselves they are so stingy with debt. I actually think most of this isn't Markus Flossman' fault. This is the timeline: November 2020 Flossman departs as CEO and is replaced by Sam Nicols August 2021 Ardian buys a majority stake...

7/14/2025 4:41pm So your friend just jams in a hub that is 9mm wider than the chainstays are designed for? What shop does he work at? Just so I can make sure I never go there.
SteveClimber Added a reply to Low rise bars, more spacers, longer stem vs. high rise bars, fewer spacers, shorter stem?
7/14/2025 4:25pm Stem length changes steering characteristics regardless of the bar being in the same point in space relative to the front wheel. As always, the easiest way to comprehend this is to take an extreme example, so get a 120mm old road stem, with some massively swept bars so the grips are still in the same position from your previous setup...

7/13/2025 7:39pm EXT use delrin (?) plastic spacers that allow the spring to rotate, I think SAR use them too, much cheaper and better solution than an expensive needle bearing that is unsealed and will just get full of crud.
