1199 looks to be a pretty awesome new school style tech track. Got some hectic shutes and tech loan sections, and some high speed massive features. I think a lot of the reason we don't see tracks with steep hairpins the whole way is because it's terrible for camera locations. It's not like the tracks their riding aren't technical, but...

I'm guessing these are the chemical ones as they sty coloured after they hit the temperature, so the mechanic doesn't have to charge over and snatch the bike to take the reading before it turns white again. Also yes it's obviously the new brembo brake for specialized.

Yeah rear brakes can get absolutely cooked on a track like this, as even the pros will brake drag half the run. Because the corner speed at some points is quite slow after the shutes, they just need to get rid of that energy through the brakes. Front brakes you can't drag going down the steeps, as you'll just lose...

This exact issue was addressed 3 months ago when the Fox Podium got leaked here and Sspomer deleted the post and explained why. Vital playing by the rules means they get access to product early, so we get great reviews and also fosters good will in these forums where a lot of industry people come and contribute. Why jeopardize the...

The XX has a slightly different coating than the others and lasts longer. From Zero Friction I think the XX flat top chains last 8000+km before replacement. maybe just double check to see how long they lasted for him, and to note that's with deliberate contamination to increase wear. Just checked, they last just under 7000km https://zerofrictioncycling.com.au/chaintesting/

There are two interfaces moving from the seat stay to the shock, yet all twisting loads just bypass those and go to the shock? In a less sarcastic note, we've seen lots of DH bikes removing seat stay bridges and just relying on the the rocker pivot and shock for stability and it's perfectly fine. With good bearing design and...
Your right, I wasn't going for hyperbole so sorry if people misinterpreted that as casting = bad. For the record I think the standard of engineering in forks and mountain bike products is extremely high these days and incredibly impressive. Its just not necessary for the companies to manufacture tolerance fits for bushing and stanchions to something insane like IT3...
Just more people ride Rockshox? Its not a problem per se, its just the reality of a mass manufactured product and tolerance control. Other than companies like Intend, the big players simply don't have the labor time to perfectly burnish bushings for their forks, they fit tight bushings to prevent slop, and rely on break-in for it to improve over...
You literally just physically bend the lowers, its not complicated at all, just using your hands you can bend the lowers enough to align them. Do it with seals and everything removed, mount the uppers in a vice at like a 20-30 degree angle (relative to horizontal) and start testing, pull the lowers almost off and just either force the...

I burnish bushings in my struts so I'm interested in this topic, but we're really getting in the weeds here. Let's continue this discussion here: vitalmtb.com/forums/hub/fork-friction-burnishing-chassis-alignment-etc

Not necessarily directed at you Dave but just tacking onto the conversation, that along with bushing sizing the other important part is lowers alignment. Because lowers are cast they're not that straight when you get them, and through mistreatment can bend quite a bit. But more importantly the uppers aren't perfectly true either, so with most forks they need a...

Neko in the floating brake video mentioned that some riders specifically like a high anti squat, and Angel wanted to test a 140% anti-squat like his old frame and mentioned it gave him more confidence. Quite a few teams said with O-chain that can use higher anti-squat which would save time on motor way sections pedalling. If high anti-squat doesn't...

Maybe it's a translation thing? It is an odd statement. I haven't seen it mentioned but the Sender prototypes had threaded inserts for all the bolts and pivots to improve repairability. But it appears they ditched it on the production frame.

Best value proposition is either brands 11sp drive trains. They worked incredibly well, they are different, one clunked and one was smoother, but they are very reliable, less prone to indexing faults than either 12sp, and so much cheaper. If you want value 12sp the only option is Shimano mix/match. Unfortunately an equivalent Sram drivetrain is almost double the price...

This is something more people should know Always buy the XTR chain, never get anything else for a Shimano drivetrain. The XTR will last twice as long (if not more) and isn't twice the price so your actually saving money. Zero Friction Cycling has incredible reviews that show the more expensive chains are well worth it for mileage

Maybe Asa isn't a money hungry vampire and happy to get paid well and ride for a team he enjoys and is getting incredible results with? Could others pay more, probably, would Asa enjoy riding with them as much? Probably not?
