Regarding “derailments;“ Every discussion in here is about tech and innovation. If we are discussing damper designs, rubber compounds, frame materials, etc. How are any of those discussions a derailment? Does everything HAVE to be a rumor? I haven’t seen anybody post a movie review, a story about a riding trip, or the current weather in Iowa. It’s all relevant. Funny thing about all those links people put up to discuss specific topics. Nobody engages with them. This thread is always active and always interesting. If rumors are sparse, what’s the harm?

Specific topics fly under the radar (you have to go look through the forum to find them unless someone links to them) and subsequently there isn't as many eyeballs in them, "outside" opinions, etc. That's why this topic gets derailed so often, so many people engage in it and it gets pulled into multiple directions.

Wow, that's crazy. I thought the U.S. has been off the gold standard since Nixon in '71. Oh wait, I don't think we're supposed to get into politics here.

Showed up today. Will likely head to a bike park on 8/30 so that's probably when I'll try it out and will post a review in a separate thread when I do (sorry not a rumor but relevant to what we had discussed). Feels very solidly built and installation looks extremely straightforward.

The issue is that Transmission "knowing" the time to shift is marketing BS. There is no hardware to allow the drivetrain to know when to shift. Transmission puts enough pressure on the chain to shift at a shift ramp/ gate, but not enough pressure to force a shift before the chain reaches ramp/gate. The drivetrain knows nothing. This is why it's highly unlikely there will ever be a cable activated Transmission derailleur. With direct cable shifting, there is no way to prevent forcing a shift.
