They also solved it with the FRIC hydraulic suspension that was also subsequently banned. F1 has a unique problem because they require such incredibly high stiffness in heave (the entire chassis going down relative to wheels) but are forbidden to connect the front and rear suspension together, because rules. Somebody on here or on MTBR did a test of bolting...

Orbea Rallon always gets very good reviews, pick a Santa Cruz in your category also. Nothing will be miles better than a Sentinel which is already such a solid bike so maybe look for extra features like in frame storage etc I'm considering the new Rocky Altitude, but I'd say it's more race bike than all mountain

That's the one! I knew somebody here would know it. I know people who have used it for kids shocks and super lightweights. I understand why Fox and Rockshox use the same oil, but it would be very beneficial IMO if they ship with different weights and just have a sticker on the product showing what current oil is in...

You don't need different tunes, just use different weight oils. The solution already exists, I know some of the elite XC people use an oil that's called almost water (I can't remember it's exact name, it's 2.5WT from memory? Someone will know what I mean). It's much easier to sell the same product, and just swap oils, that way you...

This a massive win from them. If only the drive train side of SRAM approached upgrades/replacement parts with the same process as the suspension side. Also more damping! About time, still should be more

Since we’re all making assumptions here, I’d assume downvotes are for reviewing a brake (that’s not secret or prototype) in the tech rumors thread. Please end the discussion about that brake here and take it to the brake thread. I’ve nuked that last handful of replies about it and orig review. and whoa that flight attendant reservoir!

Thanks for linking that, some really interesting points and math I haven't seen before, for instance: On A Flat 100km Route (0% Gradient) Over 100km, the 1.44km/h drop in speed from the Rohloff to the Nuvinci will add 9 minutes and 30 seconds to your cycling time (4.9% slower). To put that into perspective, carrying 30kg (66lb) extra on your...

Or it could be because they look cool and moto and everyone is now discussing them and leads to sales? Devils advocate I know. But often they change product just to have something new to sell, not because it results in tangible performance benefits.

There is also a well meaning selfish interest to BK's logic that you can't argue with. Without a net, if someone has a freak accident or mechanical and dies, that's potentially Hardline finished, which means no more income from an event he has won multiple times. It's wild that Gee didn't want a net. Anyway, looking forward to the race...

love this question! i'd make an IROC for downhill (at least what i remember IROC (international race of champions) from the 80's being...maybe it still exists?). X number of venues with X number of pre-selected racers run the same bike, suspension and tire manufacturer. each venue bike, suspension and tires change. brakes, cockpit and drivetrain can be whatever they want the series has no UCI affiliation. example - val di sole, everyone is on specialized, ohlins and maxxis - les gets, commencal, fox and schwalbe - MSA trek, rockshox and continental - last race of the season is riders choosing...

They knew they wouldn't have enough speed in the wet for it to be safe, so they shortened it so it could be ridden in all conditions. The outcome is you saw in the dry they were gapping to the flat pretty much on race runs. Dave's crash was bizarre. Nobody quite knows why he took so little speed into...

Just watched Matt Jones vlog, they confirmed they are changing the take-off of the canyon gap, so that's something at least. Still insane none of these professional builders thought that was an OK lip in the first place.

Jim Monro: “…but somehow came away with just a concussion” That statement is not trivialising concussion!! Jim (the actual guy that crashed) is saying that he’s lucky it wasn’t worse! https://www.instagram.com/reel/C7cOn7gsV4X/?igsh=MXN6aTM3amNneXV5OQ== (link just for reference as it’s already posted in full previously)

Which builder? The crash I know of was McMillan casing the creek gap, and I've seen the footage and talked to people there and he rode of with so little speed he almost landed in the creek. People legit thought he was testing the run up he was going that slow. That crash was on him. My point is we...
