7/26/2024 9:31am The man took innovation to a whole new level. 0X front derailleur, shifting is synced to the cloud. I bet his headtube is double tapered. The issue most people have is that transmission is heavy and extremely expensive. Its really that, it's driving up the overall cost of running a quality setup, and that's rightly frustrating.

I'm not anti innovation, but I am pro choice. Having choices removed is a step backwards IMO.

7/24/2024 12:37am I'd argue it's more human nature, people want 'new' and new is wireless. Give Santa Cruz a reason to save 55c per frame for not having internal guides and they'll take it. I think one of the biggest issues is that wireless only locks you into SRAM currently. It's crazy that they're releasing these before Shimano has a wireless drivetrain...

7/20/2024 1:33am Beat me to it Primoz! They would have a mountain of rear triangles because of the insane failure rate of the front triangles from not 1, but 4 common points of failure. I can only assume production issues mean they went with the complicated pull link design seen on the prototype demo?

In a static system I think you’re right? I’m just thinking about force and how and where that force is applied. The forces from outside tbe system (sytem being you and bike) act to effect the CoG (maybe I mean center of mass? Not sure) at the moment of the force. So the equation isn’t “body position on bike” it’s “where is force being directed to, and where is that moment.” Shoot, maybe I don’t mean CoG, maybe I mean moment of intertia. I’m not an engineer I’m just visualizing the problem… but I still think inertia can move CoG/CoM...

All things equal this is correct. CoG doesn't care about anything other than the literal spot where the center of mass is. This isn't to say your underlying hypothesis is totally wrong, IE, its much easier to ride a bike through your legs than through your hands. To add, when you feel like you can "squat", drop your heels and let go of the brakes its generally faster than feeling like you need to do some weird pushup to keep front wheel grip. In doing so, you probably change your body position enough that you are in fact raising up...

The fact they spec their most aggressive model with the Ohlins coil and 38 tells you it will ride just fine with a properly tuned shock with enough damping.
