I think you need to take the rose coloured glasses off. The red bull days weren't as great as what you think. Most pro's got paid bugger all, the prize money was like 1k for a win, which is just a joke. The viewers got a good product, but at the cost of the support entirely dependant upon bike companies...

That's a really valid point. It should either be autonomous or rider activated. I think it's great they are testing this stuff. Enduro bikes wouldn't pedal as well as they do without the racing, XC bikes wouldn't have lockouts without racing pushing it forward. Imagine in the future your DH bike is actually enjoyable to pump down a green trail...

Loic won the race in sector 2 where he somehow gained 2 seconds over most people. All this talk about flat courses and hard tails, if you actually look at the sector times you'd realise that the electric bikes actually didn't even win the flat sections. Benoit Coulange was fastest in both split 4 and 5, Loic was 3rd and...

I'm not persuaded that lockouts make as big a difference as many think. Tire choice is far more influential. Of course the top riders will be on the top technology by their sponsors. But I just think the correlation is the other way around- 4 of the top 5 riders were on electronic suspension because they are the top riders, its not making them meaningfully faster.

I don't know the specifics of your situation, but how have you paid for a stream and can't watch it? Advocating that teams and people violate copyright because your in a shitty situation is incredibly short sighted.
I actually think the 30 men 10 women is necessary for the sport going forward. I think it's fine. We need a better TV product, 60 30 isn't it, it's terrible. It takes way to long, you don't see most people's runs anyway, and then we arbitrarily swap timing for the top 10 to have full viewed runs anyway. What...

I was watching Bruni's Gopro footage from Fort William practice, and something caught my eye. From the footage you can actually see when he switches between damping modes from the LEDs on his stem. It happens at least 3 times: 1) blue mode off the start till at least the wood section (I did not check if he switches anything in the upper section); 2) green mode in the wood section until the second turn/shark fin after the road gap; 3) back to blue mode for the new fast section; 4) red mode from the bridge before the motorway to...

Sorry I misunderstood before. That's a very valid theory. I reckon it's still flex based, as they were testing pre steel stays with the adjustable seat stay bridge on the frame. Someone posted a photo of the pivot moved to the seat stay a couple pages back too, that would totally change the entire suspension package. The steel/alu/carbon flex characteristics...

Here's another thought on Amaury's steel oval-shaped chainstay. The obvious conclusion is that they're chasing a particular amount of flex that they couldn't get out of aluminum, but here's another idea: What if they already had the level of flex they wanted out of the old bike, but they were breaking aluminum chainstays left and right? It makes sense that the chainstay would be the weak point in a flexy rear end, because it's the direct line from the bottom bracket (aka where most of the rider's mass is transmitted to the rest of the chassis) to the rear axle...

I would agree, except for the fact that the frames are replaced so regularly anyway because of fatigue and cracking everywhere. This isn't a dig at commencal but I'd imagine each rider would go through 4+ frames during a season. I know teams that have used 6+ and Neko admitted to cracking 12 frames in a season. Now, not all...

Proven? No. But there is a legitimacy to the claim. Because a road race is 6 hours, any insanely tiny gain of 0.01W CAN be perceived to be significant at the end of race. If your competitor has to expend 3500 calories and you only 3450 calories to ride the same time that will add up over a tour of...

Certain tracks maybe. But Val de Sole and Mont Saint Anne it'll still be suspension setup, courage and strength to smash through the chunder. I think the tracks with big motorways, so Fort Bill, Lenzerheide etc we will see this matter, but I'd still say even with all that, if you don't have the courage to hit the turn at...

I also think it's because they put the team together so late, they literally have no sponsors. Not even Fox or Shimano (or SRAM, idk who they use). The classic style jersey would like so dumb with just Norco, so they're like, f it, let's slap the logo all over the place.

My NF pants fit tight, they're stretchy and super comfortable but that's only because I have large legs from weightlifting (also have short femurs). I think the fox suits are fine, it's like standard road kit (bib shorts) but just worn the other way round. I think it's a great innovation, one piece suits work great in other sports. My...

Maybe they'll have a budget provision this time to buy off Paul Aston. Surerly ENVE do 90% of their sales in the road space anyway? MTB is small fry for them. Discussing brand failures, it's interesting to see Haro and Mongoose re-enter the market with affordable aluminium bikes (presuming they make it to public release).
