Seeding results are in! Storming time by Asa, stoked to see Gwin up in fifth, and one has to wonder if Jackson is sandbagging or if he's not feeling it. Remember that unlike the World Cup, seeding carries no points and everybody who completes a top-to-bottom run and takes the start in qualifying gets to race finals at Hardline, so people could well be playing their cards close to the chest. Tune in tomorrow to see how it all plays out!

As per the article…hrm hrm… Vital fantasy goes ahead as usual. You still have to pick at least one rider in each category, including the juniors (with the results already known in advance). It’s a bit strange but the best option available to us given the circumstances.

Everyone has a story. But the meat is: the lines are blurred and we are all effectively riding motos again . Some of us never stopped. As we homogenize into one user group : (two wheels) the access may change, shift, limit and also open up in new and weird ways . Some spots will dissapear and new ones will pop up, but the genie is out of the bottle and for all disparate user groups, we will be treated as one : wheels. Becasue the man cannot police people in a way that would distinguish the differences. This is...

Yeah, that's usually how it goes down in europe with illegal mtb trails that the land owner doesn't want: they go over them with machinery and destroy them. With surrons or more powerful ebikes this will happen faster and more. This discussion is very us-centric. In most parts of europe motos are banned in the woods or mountains on trails. In many parts of the alps there are de facto bans of bikes on hiking trails in national parks or countries like Austria or bavaria sometimes enforced by rangers. Also in regions like Vinschgau that market themselves as mtb destinations...

So how does this behaviour differ from e-motos poaching MTB trails? If e-bikes are not allowed and nobody obeys the rule, so why should e-moto users? It is a user and not a classification problem.

I really wanted to hate it but by the end sorta liked it. It's like a lightweight stealth Surron. Improved versions of these Pedal E Moto's(PEM's?) are definately gonna make inroads on traditional e bike sales, and they will eventually look even more like them when the batteries get smaller and more integrated. My 50# double crown Kenevo feels so...

Surrons are a new thing, and because of that Surron riders don't really have any investment in the sport. It shouldn't be surprising that they're uninterested in broader questions about access, sustainability, etc. To a much larger extent, e-bike riders have some degree of cycling background, so there's at least a general awareness of the issues surrounding their use. As with any aspect of humanity, some people are oblivious, some people care, and some people are just assholes. But none of it really matters unless enforcement is stepped up significantly. Which seems extremely unlikely in most areas, at least in...

Want your childhood ruined? Here's a promotional video of Sam Hill riding MTB trails on a Bonnell. From a purely semantic point of view these are not E-MTBs that are also E-Motos, they are just e-motos. When the Surron Light Bee was originally released in Canada at least it came with a pedal kit installed so you could pretend it was an E-MTB too.
