JasBushey, I'm gonna push back a little on the "cone drills or ladders aren't worth my money" thing. The one-on-one Fluidride clinic I attended with Simon that drastically improved my pro downhill racing skills (I'd already attended one or two world cup races at this point) was largely cones on a gravel road. I don't want to give away too much of Simon's secret recipe here, but I distinctly remember thinking "this is the dumbest thing ever" at the start of the clinic and then being totally humbled within 5 minutes. And again, we were at Duthie Hill which has...

It is pretty interesting to me, we all 'learned' to ride a bike when we were young. Once we can pedal on two wheels, it seems like there was not much drive to encourage people to learn to ride better or more safely. Meanwhile when you learn to ski, it is often dozens of lessons before you are a competent...

Sram should work with on the cassette spread. The eagle gear of 52 is garbage and the jump to it is bs. Make the cassette more usable.

While I am all for being able to mix and match components, Shimano and SRAM have zero reason to make their parts cross compatible. It can hurt or limit their sales (and potentially limit improvements in their designs), both OEM and aftermarket if they are cross compatible. By making chains, cassettes, and chainrings required for a properly operating drivetrain, they...

As long as Discovery does a better job than the 2022 Motocross / MavTV blunder, I'll be somewhat content.

all - cut the petty ebike/non-ebike bullshit in here. battle all you want in a diff thread. if it's not a legit discussion about the bikes or the tech, beat it to somewhere else.

DCamp nailed this one. Few more thoughts... 1) Look at the results list at an EWS. These people are literally putting their life on the line, and I know a handful of the riders. This shows how poor the coverage is. Frankly, the best thing enduro had for awhile was the slideshows (IMO) with the audio behind them. That audio gave me a feel from an "expert's" POV what happened through the weekend. This at least kept me broadly aware of what was going on, who was fast, who had a good weekend and where the tricky bits of a...

Not a team rumor, so sorry for bumping this thread with something slightly ot but I had no where else to put this. Greg Minnar and Nina Hoffman were at the fox head HQ last night for an open house and my wife wanted to go down and meet them. She's a big fan of UCI DH and has always had a crush on the goat and is a big Nina Hoffman fan. We ended up getting to meet and talk to both. Nina in particular, was so effing nice to my wife. My wife got into MTB about 2.5...

Some information that hopefully will help. A 32T oval ring typically gets as big as a 34T round. Meaning you would need to set the guide height for a 34T ring. OneUps guides are Oval compatible, it will just need to be set up properly. With their guide, you should be able to run up to a 36T oval. Meaning...

Okay, lets keep playing "finance class with Jeff" since people seem interested. I've already articulated this, but maybe a real world example of how it works will help ? Like most people, I plan on holding the car for 2-4 years (or keeping it for like...20, more on that later). If I sell the car at year 2, here is the math. After two years I will have paid $19,000 in principal and $2500 in interest. The million dollar question (or $54,000 question) is how much will the car be worth in 2 years? Considering supply constraints of rare earths...

Just took delivery of a Tesla (that I financed) just so I could ignore this (douchebag alert!!!). I know, financing a depreciating asset sounds like poor math but gas in my truck + ICE cost to maintain is a lot more than financing cost + taxes on a new car + depreciation factor. Electricity in Idaho is almost free, so that's nice too. (for those paying attention, the right call would be "Brines, just go buy a prius or even an outback...your math only works at 17mpg) What gas prices is impacting is my willingness to load up the old...

Wow, thanks to the failings of higher ed I have to derail this to show some very (very) simple math. Truck I owned - sold for $21K (owned outright) Tesla: $71K (all in) Down payment on tesla: $21K Amount Financed: $50K Rate on loan: 3% Term 60 months Cumulative interest year 1: $1400 Interest per month: $117 Total Interest on the loan: $3,908 Gas I was paying per month in truck: ~$400 Oil/Other fluid Stipend (for ICE) per month: $50 At current rates how much gas/oil would I burn over 60 months: $27,000' Amount it costs to run the Tesla...

Hey Guys, another update. Austin was one of the first people I called after getting hurt. We're buddies and talk/ride together fairly regularly. I let him know what was up and wanted to confirm that he was staying in Europe for the next month like I thought he was. He's racing Maribor this weekend and isn't planning on coming back home until after the WC in Switzerland next month either way. That was good news as he's easily ready to go if I pull out. I also contacted USAC to make sure they get him everything he needs to compete...

They were reformed a few years ago to become the corporate conglomerate of outdoor publications. They’ve been buying anything up with value. They bought pink bike for Trailforks as much or more so than the editorial side. Seems a major focus is in apps whether they be health, navigation, or sport training related. I’m glad for hradek. I’m sure the payout was pretty damn spectacular. He undoubtedly started something really cool and deserves a bonus now he’s ready. But pinkbike has been trying too hard for years and this is just going to make things worse. Mtb doesn’t need reality...
