TEAMROBOT Liked a reply to forum topic The Bikeconomics (Mega)Thread
12/6/2025 6:57am I don't know if you're just being sarcastic and already had an answer in mind, but "what happened in 1970" is one of the most hotly contested questions in macroeconomics. Was it automation? Globalization and trade? Women entering the workforce en masse? Taxation and income policy? New capital markets? Money in politics? Greater reliance on government deficits? Answering this question is super important for raising the quality of life of the median person, but unfortunately if you ask two macroeconomists right now you'll get five different answers, and no one's really winning the argument. I have an opinion on the...

12/3/2025 8:38am Great advice to ensure you don't pay overage fees. My favorite move is to 3D print a stand-in for your shock at an appropriate eye-to-eye and hardware sizing, and chuck your shock in your carry on. On my DH bike it saves almost 2 lbs, and I actually reduced the eye-to-eye a bit to "sag" the suspension and reduce the...

11/25/2025 6:45am Glad to see FAZUA sent a reply, considering forum members here seem to be forecasting their imminent demise. I (reluctantly) picked up a steeply discounted FAZUA Ride 60 powered gravel bike for commuting and have found it to have more than adequate power for that application (can comfortably sit at 28mph when in the drops). For my mountain bikes, it’s...

10/22/2025 4:30pm Gonna guess this is not folks here's idea of the perfect ebike (though they will let you spend $200 to slap on some Kenda's with the "offroad" package), but Rivian spin-off "ALSO" announced their thing today: TM-B – ALSO Apparently features in-house suspension, anti-lock brakes, and (most interestingly to me) a super unique mid drive motor system. From what they've...

10/14/2025 4:17pm FWIW, regarding the oil colouring, Sram's R and RS brakes, where the parts are painted on the outside, have a gray oil when you do a bleed after a while, while RSC and above brakes (not sure how that relates to the new bronze and silve rmonikers) are anodized, which means the master bore is also anodized and thus doesn't wear as much as the raw one in the case of painted outsides. The gray colouring of the oil are aluminium wear particles.

9/16/2025 1:34pm Sure, but It's a matter of scale. Does this look as impressive? (Honestly, still looks kinda impressive but my point stands)

9/11/2025 12:19pm Interesting, but it doesn't know your cadence, so this is an approximation at best. I'm sure most riders are operating in a predictable cadence range, so it's likely better than nothing. Nevertheless, the root of this discussion is the news that they removed/increased said shift speed limitation.

9/10/2025 9:56am The "only shifts at the ramps" thing is a myth that SRAM isn't going out of their way to correct. There is no sensing of position, torque, or anything else going on -- so it's simply not a real thing. It was just rate limited to make sure us hoons didn't blow up chains too quickly. The existence of Transmission...

9/5/2025 6:21pm Am I alone in finding these mudder races dull? No one is able to push, looks slow, doesn’t resemble anything that you would consider riding. Let’s race in places where the soil doesn’t turn to peanut butter please.

9/2/2025 12:17pm it doesn’t feel vastly different to the previous Tech 4. The main difference is that the new cam design shortens the free stroke quite a bit, which for me makes the brake feel more direct when you activate it. It’s SUPER easy to feel what it’s doing and when the power comes on. I had to change where I run my levers in the starting position because they bite and ramp up sooner. That overall softness you speak of is still there once you get into the power band more, but I’d say their claim of 6-7% increased power holds...

8/15/2025 8:34am I think Norco reducing frames goes back to what others have previously mentioned and lines up with how the new Trek Fuel is being positioned. Everyone is expecting their non-XC bikes to be able to ride anywhere (from local trails to DH) so they have to be made more robust, which increases weight, and then what is the realy difference between a short travel trail bike (like an Optic) and a long travel trail bike (like a Range)? You end up with the same brakes, wheels, tires, rear shock, and kit, with the only difference being a Pike/36 vs Zeb/38...
