Hey guys, quick question: the thumbs down button is for when someone doesn’t like the product I’ve turned into my whole personality, right?

Two layers of Stans tape is a little generous for DT Swiss rims since they are typically bang-on with ETRTO spec. But otherwise nothing seems too off... For context, the kevlar bead cores used among all folding MTB tires gets plucked off a rack, and then gets folded into a casing execution (Gravity in this case). Then the blank gets...

If you want fast rolling with a good sidewall you could try a Schwalbe Wicked Will SuperTrail. The SuperTrail casing is more supportive than EXO+. It only comes in their SpeedGrip compound, which is firm and long lasting. Fun tire for all-day missions in the dry. I do wish they had it in Soft (aka not that soft).

If you are ok with 1150g, the 29x2.50 Albert Trail Pro Radial isn't far off at 1180g. A radial tire, even just at the front, would up the capability enough that you reconsider the importance of weight vs performance.

29x2.40 Super Ground Mary (1040g) gets it 110g weight savings from the missing apex layer found in a Super Trail Mary (1150g). Otherwise they are identical. Apex helps to support sidewall in cornering, and mitigate snake bites mainly. I talked earlier in the thread about the 29x2.25 Mary having a 2:2:2 tread pattern. It's pretty fun and light (910g), and...

It's almost like riders have different preferences in tires, ride different trails in different conditions, and have different skill levels.

I think the flaw in that test is that they were all tested at the same PSI. It would be interesting to know how much puncture protection you gain from 1-5 PSI added to a tire. Since most people are running radials 3-5psi higher, you'd expect it to "even out" a bit the protection I'd guess, but hard to have definitive metrics on it.

I had something similar that I noticed on a Schwalbe tire during install. I contacted them and they said its only cosmetic and doesn't affect performance. They also sent me a 50% discount code for anything on their website. Might be worth a try to warranty the tire.

Haven't seen any media on this but found it interesting that Shimano also released a battery-less self shifting electronic derailleur for commuting under the cues umbrella. https://bike.shimano.com/en-AU/technologies/details/qauto.html

Do you think it could be improved if it gets a Radial treatment?

Don't know till you try! The Tacky Chan comes in the fast rolling/light weight Super Ground casing now. I've paired it with a Nobby Nic Super ground in the rear for a fast rolling aggressive combo.
