Forbidden Dreadnought v1 2023 or Specialized State 170 2 2026?
Question
Hi! I wanted to ask your opinion. I'm looking for a bike and I'm deciding between two options:
Forbidden Dreadnought v1 2023
It's only 3 months old and practically new. It has a Marzocchi Bomber Z fork, a RockShox Super Deluxe Ultimate shock, Tenet handlebars, an Industrie Nine stem, WTB wheels, a Deore XT drivetrain, Praxis cranks, an SDG dropper post, and Code RSC Ultimate chromoly brakes.

Which of these options would be the best considering it prioritizes descending over climbing? And what about warranties? Would it depreciate? etc.

Well the Dread wouldn't have a warranty since it's used. Forbidden is quite good about crash replacements and doing what they can to help though.
Assuming the Specalized is new, so it would have a warranty.
As for the build kit wise, I'd say the Dread is superior for basically every component.
If setup right, Deore XT will shift just as good as Eagle 70, if not better.
You should research more about previous user experience with the V1 Forbidden bikes. It pays off to be meticulous with Loctite on the frame hardware. The linkage and shock bolts would sometimes come loose.
If you can stomach that, it will likely be the better bike of the two.
