I really like the track, that top woods section is one of my favorites to watch on any track all year. I do think it could be improved with 1 more tech section in that bottom little woods instead of that being more highspeed rollers/berms. Some of the grass corners on the piste are also fun. watching the best riders on those sweeping flat or off camber corners is always sick.

feel bad for LMS maybe not getting the credit he deserves for putting well over a second into 2nd on a track that has many riders apart by only a tenth. like you have to go to... 9th place from 2nd? to get the same time gap LMS put on 2nd. nearly the same gap from 2nd to 10th. as he put from 1st to 2nd. damn

I’m bummed it rained. That track would have evolved really well in the dry. The grass would held the dirt together in a way we don’t typically see. Can’t think of another track that doesn’t get ridden all year. Fear it’s gonna be pretty main line with the ruts cut in.

This was my aim. Just pointing out that putting such AI cover/title shot can detract or even block people from reading otherwise quality content. Which would be a shame as in the end I expect writers put stuff out(either paid or free) to engage readers.

Don’t snitch on Lachie if he goes outside a pole dude, we really want him to win!

Yeah, it doesn't help that whiteface doesn't have a bike park anymore, and that level hatred for mountain bikes in the "High Peaks" region of the Adirondacks is probably only second to Marin county. I'm stoked to be going to watch racing there, and bummed its no longer going to be there. But as far as way to end the season? A place with no bike park hosting the final DH race is not what this season deserves.

Probably the first of your posts I’ve disagreed with: I cannot wait to see how the Asa/Jordan battle plays out.

Yeah, regarding the flat area (s) I'd agree. From watching the race on HBO, there seemed to be too much ball-pedaling (sorry, ladies). Downtime Podcast suggested that it might have been to do with certain landscape features that had to be gone around, but if they can un-flatten a few of those areas, I think people would be happier?! As an online spectator, watching riders pedal their guts out up a slight climb in the middle of a downhill run just never looks exciting to me.

So Specialized took that status off the website? Just a frameset available now. Is that because it's due for replacement, or are they dropping it altogether? I thought it was an amazing value bike. Recommended it to people over and over. My LBSs agreed, but said it sold less than they thought it would, most people went higher end.

Big shout out to Wyn for the pits video. Those little insights we learn about Jacob Jewetts shoulder, Gwin being the last one to leave the pits and Mad Maxs brake levers captures these athletes in a way that the morons from WBD will never be able to when they shove a mike in front of them. Hope he has a long future in downhill when he stops racing.

Not sure if others feel this way watching a run like Asa's, but I could feel the magic of it, knew he was going so fast and would smash the field, but I was terrified it would end in disaster and he would be hurt. His crossing the finish line was just a pure feeling of relief. Heightened by having watched poor Keifer go down (boy he's had a tough season). Incredible. Still feel like we have been robbed this year of peak Jackson and peak Asa at the same race, both 4 seconds ahead of the field. Hope we...

Must have been the brakes

the morning is already buzzing. going to be a crazy day! (some pics from track just now with more to come).

I think everyone is reading too much into this. He's probably just a tech smasher. And smooth jump lines aren't his thing.

I cruised the pits today and made my amateur PIT BITS here: https://www.vitalmtb.com/forums/hub/evans-whistler-pit-bits

What a day! Oil Clark was the standout to me today in multiple sections! Dude was on the gassssssss! Reece pulled some wild lines. Kasper Woolley with the finesse on the highest line in the rock section was nuts! Jackson looked fluid as always and fast. Finn was on it all day too.

I have some rider / team questions that I think would be good: Did the Whistler event live up to your expectations? How was the event different than European stops? Should Whistler be the anchor for the North American arm of the series? I mean, basically, can Whistler shake-up the Euro-centric nature of the World Cup? Other than that, RAW, RAW, RAW!!

I’d love to see a photo slide show with interviews and chats like we used to get. Use the music that used to be in the background too 👍

Two great interviews over on NSMB with a couple of long time Whistler Bike Park staff about the process of getting the Whistler World Cup, and getting the course built. Hopefully the Vital mods are ok with me posting this. I'm not affiliated with NSMB, but I've worked with Wendy and Marty for decades so I want them to get some shine.
