Usually, the cheaper bikes have a better margin, while the more expensive bike may put more cash in the drawer, the shop keeps less of it. That's why I've always said it's ultimately better to sell 10 $600 bikes than 1 $6000 bike.. The shop ends up with more money that way.. They may be doing a bit of a loss-lead right now.. Srll them cheaper to get some out there, then as demand ramps up, the price goes up...

O_O If I understand correctly, that's just dealing with the lugs, let alone gluing and then final assembling the frame. Google says UK minimum wage is ~9 GBP per hour. Which is 11 EUR. That's a cost of AT LEAST 175 € to finish off the lugs alone, likely a lot more given the type of work. I know I'm a broken record, but, again, HOW do they manage...

I'm listening to the Silca 3D printing podcast. A interesting tidbit, they said a kilogram of Ti powder costs 500 USD. Just the raw material. So each Atherton frame has ~500 USD in raw materials just in the lugs, let alone the manufacturing and finishing costs of the parts, the carbon tubes, the glue, then you need to earn something from the frame over what it cost you to produce to have it developed, marketed and so on... How they are managing it is beyond me.

Curious to see how Mille will do on the Commencal. Everybody seems to be going pretty damn fast on that thing, while other than Andi Kolb and Rach’s last season the same cannot be really said about the Atherton’s bike, cool as the idea is.

Carson is one of those guys where keeping it real is costing him a paycheck. Nothing wrong with that but he doesn’t exactly produce a ton of content. That said he has a fair number of local sponsors who benefit a lot from how much he kicks it around Oregon. Hopefully some of them can step up support in Rocky’s absence.

Yeah, I'm definitely more interested in TRP knowing a few high level riders have chosen them when they had options from S/S. Like, Neko is running TRP brakes but SRAM drivetrain, and basically said that he was choosing his favorite components, rather than what offered him the best deal.

FMD is the Seagrave's team (run by Tahnee's dad I'm pretty sure), nothing to do with Canyon, they are just the title sponsor. Previously FMD Racing have been on Transition and Intense frames

I believe it would be interesting to see for all the Commencal and Canyon teams how much money actually comes from the bike brands and how much from other sponsors. I am pretty sure in most cases they are actually just frame sponsors, but on the other hand, if someone else is paying the bigger bucks, they must want to have their brand name first in the team nomenclature, right? Anyway, this is my list: - Commencal Muc-Off - obviously factory team and Commencal pays the most money - 100%/ Commencal - the official name is with 100% first, so...

I think Jeff has a lot of pride in the VPP which is why it's taken Gwin a couple years of pressure and bad results to get Jeff to cave and make something new. Not that the VPP can't work (Santa Cruz)... but Jeff' "J-link/curve" or whatever he called it. Gwin was teasing a new bike before the start of last season. And then mentioned in another podcast it was taking so long. Now we finally see it. Well, covered up. And wow, third tire company in 4 seasons for Gwin. Let's hope Vee is up to Maxxis level so...
