7/21/2026 8:52am https://grazrcomponents.com/products/tensioner?variant=44181619638355&u… Super sick single speed tensioner from a small company. Really love riding single speed and the sb one was the ONLY decent one ever. Stoked to see this.

7/21/2026 8:50am Most ski companies want their warehouse empty by early December, remaining items are closed out by January. There is some carry out over for lower churn segments like kids and backcountry. The ski industry is still making good money by selling new top sheets and colors each year and they will probably keep going. The least technology advanced products with the least R&D cost have the best margins. Sony get me wrong, ski technology is innovating and improving but compared to a bike the tech is more mature and people typically buy with shorter time horizons in mind

7/20/2026 6:15am I don't think anyone who understands the basics of gearboxes or derailleurs expects them to be a good fit for XC bikes in the foreseeable future.

7/20/2026 6:15am My impression has been that most posters in this thread agree that GB with chain or belt have a justifiable place in gravity bikes. It's their use in XC and trail bikes that get pedaled a lot that is still a point of contention. Also, I'm not sure if this is common knowledge here, but a new discovery for me was that eCVTs with dual motors provide infinite gear ratios using just a single planetary gear stage with no belts or chains internally, which can bump up the efficiency over older belt or chain-driven CVTs substantially - probably something like...

7/20/2026 6:14am I used to run that setup 22/32T but then realised I didn't need the 32T over here in the Alps. I also came across a narrow wide 22T direct mount sram chainring on Aliexpress so now just run that. When I go ride somewhere flatter I put on a bigger chainring.

7/20/2026 6:13am Fred, are you just running a 2x crank in front and droppin down manually when needed for those long grinds the puttin the chain back up onto the larger ring for the descents? Some guys around here (SW Colorado, lots of long steep high altitude grinds in the high country) used to do that too. No front derailleur. Just the double ring. Takes about 10 seconds to move it between rings. I don't run that setup, but I do run a 28/52 for the same reason as you and also because its a bit easier on my knees for steep...

7/20/2026 6:12am The rider currently leading the Men’s elite Overall EDR is on a Belt driven high pivot gearbox bike. Interesting times we are in.

7/19/2026 9:09am I think tahnee has some years left. She’s like 5-6 years younger than myriam. She’s got time to cash some more checks traveling with her boyfriend. Lots of women are choosing to have kids a bit later these days if that’s a pursuit of hers.

7/19/2026 9:09am If Tahnee retires early, I won't be surprised. She seems to be dealing with concussion symptoms and rider are taking that more seriously than we've seen in decades past.. She can still uncork a race winning run, but at what cost? Still so much that is unknown when it comes to TBIs...

7/19/2026 9:08am Just a reminder: no federal statute passed by Congress formally recognizes the Class 1, 2, and 3 e-bike system. Federal law instead defines a “low-speed electric bicycle” as a two- or three-wheeled vehicle that: Has fully operable pedals. As an aside, if @TEAMROBOT eCVT concept has the rider powering a "generator" rather than mechanically driving the wheel, it may not satisfy this requirement. Has an electric motor of less than 750 watts. Cannot exceed 20 mph on level pavement when powered solely by the motor, with a 170-pound rider. That last provision is how Class 3 bikes can assist up...

7/19/2026 9:05am Also had issues with my 90 setup. Turned out to be not enough cable tension, but the weird part is it only affected one cog in the middle of the cassette. Since fixing that it’s been fantastic. Can’t remember if it was said earlier, but it sure feels like SRAM made the mechanical stuff harder to setup as a way to steer people toward AXS.

7/19/2026 9:05am Is that the rule? Are there rules? Because catalog snaps have happened heaps of times in the OG thread. Obviously don’t lose your job - but these are just brands owned by banks / syndicates / second generation founders nepo kids - and we are the 0.01% who care to see this stuff. newschoolers.com has an epic next year gear thread where everyone is sharing catalog snaps and tradeshow samples. I think this audience is hyper niche and most of the stuff on this thread never makes it past this group of weirdos. I’m sure bike brand product managers lurk...

7/19/2026 9:05am I like to climb everything rather than push up so I am one of the few that cleans the ebike climbs hehe. Yeah very steep stuff around here.

7/18/2026 9:09am GoPro inches closer to bankruptcy. Nick is propping the company up by extending a loan of his own money to the tune of $20M @ 6.5% while a buyer is sought. Link.

7/18/2026 9:08am I think 52% off a Fuel EXe is reasonable for a bike where you have to take the completely realistic risk that the company that makes the motor and battery will be defunct (or at least completely exited ebikes) before the warranty on all of the other parts is gone. On the Vail thing, I agree with Charlie. However, unless they figure out a way to turn things, we're going to see the off-loading of some properties. However, if I were Vail, there are a lot of things I'd sell off before Whistler Blackcomb. I just don't know where the...

7/18/2026 9:06am Agree. If you have spent any real time on the SID you'll know it's no Pike when it comes to damping quality. The chassis is fine but the damper gets a bit overwhelmed when in proper chunk. I have a SID equipped bike and it's awesome in the right terrain but it'll let you know when it's not happy. There is still a place for the Pike, especially with the weight gain of the latest Lyric.
