A bald tire will still have grip on smooth surfaces, as long as the compound is soft enough. I say it depends on your surface. If you have loamy, loose dirt, then a sharp edge is more important. Harder, smoother dirt is the domain of soft compounds.

Why do people always say two bikes look the same when they actually only look the same, but have a _completely_ different underlying suspension system? The Grim Donut counter-comment is spot on, they have an almost exact same suspension layout (though the donut uses a pull-link to actuate the rocker, while the Giga uses a compression link, plus all the details of the pivot placements and so on).

Lol...tell me about it. You should have to work for every foot you ride on a bike...feel the burn before you earn your drop. Could it be just a cage transplant for a one-off build? It has Shimano brakes and Santa Cruz wheels on a Pivot frame... And FOX suspension. I hardly see it as preproduction stuff, this appears to be a balls to the wall build with no expense spared.

Biggest breakthroughs in the future will be low to mid level models getting much closer in performance to the top end bikes. A revolution in the tire/wheel department that will be the biggest improvement of bikes since decent discbrakes or dropperposts. The type of thing that will have you saying I can’t believe we did the old way so long. Lastly I think gearboxes are inevitable as the pros are undeniable and someone will figure out surpassing the cons At the right price point to basically kill off derailleurs on any bike more than a grand.

Well, I don't get the entire hate e-bike deal at all. Snapped my left leg last year racing MX. Completely severed off both the tib/fib right below the knee. Two operations, a bone graft from my pelvis, two 7" plates and 40 screws later, I can finally do something. The EMTB is a god send. Got me back on the bike again. These things are the future, like it or not. They're here and they aren't going to go away. Most people who hate them have probably never even ridden one. I would never consider a non e bike ever...

I think a lot of people just hate ebikes hence the down votes. I used to be one of those people that hated them but now I just figure if your out riding and having fun it’s all good. As long as the user is respectful, this is a big deal on multi use trails, and not poaching trails that specifically have signs up saying “no ebikes” it’s no big deal. Glad your having fun man.
