5/18/2026 10:06am I'd much rather fix a carbon bike with a damaged downtube than an aluminium bike with a crack. Between the two, my money would be on the carbon bike having the longer lifespan. Aluminium fatigue is a bitch.

5/18/2026 10:05am 99.5% of people looking for a GT or SC would have absolutely no fucking clue what Pon is lol. GT disappeared because all they had was their heritage, and that's not enough to carry a brand indefinitely as they pumped out mostly unappealing bikes year after year. I personally don't know anyone that considered buying one in recent memory. I had a GT bmx in 2006 and really liked it, so when I got properly into mountain biking I always looked at GT. Other options were always better. I stopped looking at them years ago. If GT was successful then...

5/17/2026 7:02pm Think of a fully rigid bike. In your mind's eye, picture the bike like a pendulum that pivots on the contact patch. Bike & body separation allows the bike to move, follow terrain and trail contours. From my perspective, that riding style is important since it allows your body to follow a smooth path while the bike moves and stays in contact with the track. In moto, we call that being loose on the bike. When the track is really rough and/or muddy, it is important to stay loose in some sections. Typically the consequence of not being loose in...

5/17/2026 10:39am I’d take a well designed and built frame with a lower spec damper over a misaligned, poorly thought out frame with a fancy one any day. You can upgrade a damper, it’s much harder to upgrade out of bad engineering and manufacturing. As has been said above, even then, some shock spec or kinematic choices will mean different things to different riders.

5/16/2026 5:28pm Zerode are launching a new frameset, looks like two travel variants, 160 and 140mm. Shadow and Shadow Trail. 450mm chainstays on the large too. Internal frame storage too. Curious what the kinematics are. Looks pretty cool imo! https://zerodebikes.com/products/shadow-origin Rob continues his streak of only launching bikes like a month or two after I buy something else...
Bobsmothersbrother Liked a reply to forum topic What frame brands are nicest to bearings? Should bearings and service be a consideration when buying a bike?
5/15/2026 6:45pm This may not always be the case, but a lifetime bearing warranty often brings an incentive for the manufacturer not to have to supply 20 sets of bearings per frame, so they design and spec better. Frames with bearings in linkages are my preference provided they are quality - not much point having bearings in linkages if the pivot axle is wearing a groove in your frame. In my 4 years on an Arrival I have replaced one set of bearings and ridden a lot in loads of conditions. Bearing quality, bearing seat tolerance, and frame alignment are important. I...

5/10/2026 4:43pm What are the stock anti rise figures? I have heard Loic is picky with those numbers and I'm curious if his kinematic preferences are what ended up on the stock frame?

5/10/2026 4:43pm How does it compare to segment leaders V10 and Supreme V5. What riders would benefit? What were the kinematic goals and targeted outputs. How much effort was put into lateral compliance.

5/8/2026 10:15am Earlier this year I went to People For Bikes’ Bicycle Leadership Conference. I’m not a PFB member, I don’t feel like a shill for them, but I have an in person experience which seems relevant to this: I learned that they feel that e-motos pose an urgent threat to existing routes to schools, etc. They’re still supporting new routes, but are focused on supporting existing routes - because there’s a risk that reaction to reckless e-moto users could jeopardize all bicycle access to bike paths. Undoing PFB’s previous efforts. PFB seemed eager to have e-motos regulated as motorcycles, and the...

5/8/2026 10:14am The 8-hour training actually makes perfect sense if you think about it. If you’re going to force a 12-year-old to commute electrically assisted/throttled in a 6-inch painted gutter next to 5,000lb distracted SUVs going 50mph, they probably need Stroad-warrior level tactical training. Why build a protected bike path for $1M when you can just blame the kids for not having a Ebike Safety Certificate while they dodge F-150s?

5/7/2026 8:07pm It was an issue on the Trust because if you came down rear wheel heavy at all the initial axle path of the fork would be almost perpendicular to the ground. The effect would be amplified due to the moment arm of the wheelbase slapping the front wheel down. You could come down rear wheel heavy and potentially notice some extra feedback but you would never get the slapping effect from the front wheel. It should be a non-issue unless you’re hitting Bender drops with Bender technique in the big 26

5/6/2026 3:05pm Does the chainstay kick out though? Like the chainstay has this weird link to the idler right? Does that link push the chianstay out to affect how the rear flex stay flexes and thus creates more growth? Like is it a reverse flex stay? Where instead of flexing open, the rear triangle flexes closed? Meaning the angle at the dropout...

5/6/2026 2:53pm For anyone who's curious what Weagle says about the Nighttrain suspension layout but doesn't want to scroll through IG comments, answering someone who asked about the design intent behind the bike: "Initially trying to gain a bit more mid corner traction on race bikes but as I hated [typo?] on the idea more and more I began to appreciate that it solves a lot of other issues. Definitely not an immediately intuitive benefit for me, it grew on me. In the end it turns out that by the numbers and by seat of the pants human pedaling a bike, this...
