4/25/2026 2:09am Having ridden bikes from several major brands, my SC Megatower has easily been the best I’ve owned when it comes to product support, parts availability, and clear, reliable customer service. I used to make fun of people who had an SC, but after dealing with repeated warranty issues on other bikes, I get it now. The Mega is a sick bike, the VPP suspension rides great, but honestly, it’s the overall ownership experience that really sets Santa Cruz apart. I'm in the market for a shorter travel ripper, and SC is at the top of the list, even if it's...

12/20/2024 2:11am Those trails are great, your just not good enough. Hike a bike with a smile. Whats boring to ride down will be fun to ride up, whats fun to ride down you cant ride up. Ride your bike in winter when its shitty ski conditions.

9/7/2024 2:20pm Luca won national champs just last year and wore the sleeve this past season. Podium threat, potential winner, super nice guy. I could see why brands would want to work with him.

8/27/2024 12:46pm In my experience Geo is the number 1 thing that limits a bikes capabilities (or at least my confidence in its abilities). I have a trail hardtail that I will ride some pretty chunky trails on, I just have to do it a little slower. Which is where I think travel comes in. Geo limits the capabilities, Travel limits the the speed. There is obviously a limiting point on both but that's been my general feeling riding different types of bikes.

7/2/2024 4:27pm It's not proprietary per say, however the long, sad road of specialized suspension made for their bikes has many bikes in the world left useless. I currently have two 10 year old S-works bikes that used their forks from 10 years ago that need lower cups that no longer exist to put on a reg fork and there are only a few service places that seem to be able to service them. Specialized isn't in it alone, Cannondale and Trek are both in the same boat with specialized shocks, but all these special shocks that only they use are usually...

7/2/2024 9:53am Sorry to thread hijack @Primoz but I know you love it... Progressive generates more force on big hits and remains open/fluttery feeling on small bump. I like that tune on all bikes so far. Linear is a close 2nd- hard to tell which tune you have (linear vs progressive) unless you do back-to-back testing on the same trail/same day/same bike/same shocks... Digressive is basically the opposite of progressive and Linear splits the 2 tunes.

7/2/2024 12:30am Rumored Saint brake and how SRAM would spec future builds with code/Maven was where my head was at. I like honest/informed feedback, including negative experiences with Shimano/Sram/BrandX. If that was off topic, fair enough

6/30/2024 9:21pm Thank You, My thoughts exactly. We could all use a little headed thinking, and the realization that we are all different, ride different, on different terrain, with different abilities, on different bikes, and have different needs/wants. We live in a wonderful time, with amazing choices, that all work really well

6/30/2024 11:14am Garbage is bit strong if the brake just works. I find the RSC criticisms of feel and performance very accurate, had the same thoughts under my helmet. Im open to greasy tech benefits, but feel disconnect compared to shimano 4 pots.

6/27/2024 10:02am I was there last weekend...they don't have enough tourists during week days. Gondola operates from 10am to 7pm but between 10am - 2pm they do only one run per our. After 2pm they do continuous runs. The trails are really nice, the red trail that starts from the top needs some serious work but the rest of them are in good conditions. Also the other cable car that was opened this year operates only on Saturday - Sunday. There are two new trails. Maribor has potential but they need more advertising and maybe some new trails or a way to...

6/26/2024 11:33am Real quick, the switchblade could not hold a candle next to the sentinel at descending. Most bikes in this category are pretty similar in geo, travel, and price. Unless you look at the new HP trail bikes, those are a totally different animal and require a separate conversation. Is price a factor? Do you care about difficulty of maintenance? What types of riding to you spend the most time doing? What kind of trails are they? Do you care about weight? What kind of climbing do you have to do, is it technical or smooth? I dont see the point...

6/26/2024 2:08am Just rebuilt San Quentins rear wheel after 3 years that kinda, sorta, notta had same parts. Volume//Stiff casing/Puncture resistance was great. Zero Maintenance, Zero Cost rear hub was great. Grip 5/10 POE 1/10. Rim looked great so I ordered new spokes/freehub and built myself. Definitely not disagreeing with the testers in any way, thinking they halfway understood that.

6/25/2024 11:40pm The launch video basically breaks every rule of modern advertising and I love it. "Don't sell the steak, sell the sizzle." "Don't talk about the product." "Customers don't care about specs, they care about experiences." It's just homie talking about the hub specs for 3 minutes, instead of campfire sunset B-roll and talking about the meaning of life with Christopher Walken. So much BS in the marketplace that they're able to be distinct by just being honest engineers who make better products. The narrator looks and sounds like he may have been the engineer who designed it (my brother's an...
