5/14/2024 8:13am But he is riding what was available at that time and most likely what was the largest geo imaginable for those time standards. The need for larger - longer bike came up from something. If not, we would not have this debate as we all would have been riding tiny bikes thinking that’s how it should be. And that seems like its not how it went. My original point was that i personally feel you can spread across larger bike even if too big to some decent outcome but you cant fit well into a tiny bike as your body...

5/14/2024 8:11am I prefer modern sizing with full suspension bikes and older geo numbers with hard tails. Hardtails I tend to ride over/behind the back wheel when descending while full suspension bikes I ride pretty centered.

5/14/2024 8:02am Shimano is likely still licking their wounds a bit after the 12spd release/supply issues/scylence hub issues they had when XTR was released and won't release a top tier group without having everything perfect this time around. I also don't think Shimano is feeling pushed into rushing an electric mtb group since they have a much larger "Bread and butter" pool than SRAM does, they have completely different economy's. They aren't millions of X5 derailleurs coming on entry level mountain and commuter bikes, those are Acera derailleurs. Shimano doesn't need XTR to sell to make money, so when it's perfect they'll...

5/10/2024 11:27am They were stolen in UK between Birmingham and London. The homepage says “Scotland”. So bummed to hear this, they took the whole van but it was found from AirTag and an iPad that was on board. They got some stuff back that wasn’t taken.

5/10/2024 11:25am Update on the GOAT. Dude is gnarly to still be planning to line up next week in Poland... And Lucas Cruz is on the road to recovery! I hope all goes well for him and we see him back when he's ready. For those without Instagram: @gregminnaar : A little update on the last couple days. I managed to go see Lucas in Inverness on Sunday night as well as get my shoulder X-rayed. The initial prognosis was a grade 4 separation of my shoulder with some shards of bone hanging around the AC joint. I managed to get to...

5/9/2024 1:27pm I'll pre-empt the inevitable butthurt about the below by saying that all of these options are good. They are all powerful, all reasonably easy enough to work on, and all (mostly) consistent. I mainly say that because people adore Saints and I found them to be the weaker in almost every category compared to others, but still good. I'd also caveat that "power" is somewhat misunderstood IMO. Most people don't have the means to measure overall, total available power, rather they base it on how the brakes feel. A brake like the Maximas may have a ton of overall power...

5/9/2024 1:48am Biathlon not joining skiings version of the UCI, is touted as key to their success, flexibity to make changes. Investing in a great TV production and sharing profits to smaller teams/countries. You could argue getting a big check from Discovery and only charging Norwegians is arguably growing the sport with profit sharing. UCI (FIS)of skiing is trying to copy this...

5/8/2024 2:12pm Biathlon numbers are a bit cheeky, showing viewership numbers from broadcasts not behind a paywall. The past couple years paywall has turned viewership numbers of Winter sports to shit here in Norway, including Biathlon. Split screen commercials during long boring races isnt the problem. Split screen commercials in the heat of the action is our new normal. Paywall increasing viewership...

5/4/2024 11:15pm Anybody notice how short Reece Wilson's stem is this weekend? Looks like a 20mm stem or maybe shorter. I don't remember seeing anybody fast running a stem that short since Bulldog on the OG Mondraker/Cesar Rojo "Forward Geometry" program in 2012. https://www.instagram.com/p/C6cjj6KOMyU/?utm_source=ig_embed&ig_rid=e76…

5/4/2024 9:46am I got in last night, ready to catch up on my stories: Dialed, maybe a Cathro, some rider vlogs…buoyed by the press conference vid, I was hyped! Got the coffee ready for this morning. Ready. Didn’t see a Dialed (hm) but watched the RAWs and some POVs…watched the dude Flo (English subtitles!—sick!) then i saw the screenshot for the UCI practice vid. Said out loud, “what is D N B? Is that another new abbreviation?” Cued that piece up and went out to the kitchen for a snack. My partner was now involved in trying to decipher this new D...

5/4/2024 4:02am The UCI should apologize to everyone for not forcing the builders to make tight technical forested turns for the entire flat peet bog track. Personally I think the tracks are the best they've been in a while. Many of them run a full technical gambit - good size jumps (yes, jumps are technical), good chunky technical sections, traverses for putting power on pedals. Really seems like a full gambit of things to throw at riders. I do personally think they could do more slow speed tech with tighter turns. Part of the reason why I'm excited for the Poland round.
