This is where the fail started. The part that mounts to the bar is a master cylinder. It’s been a master cylinder since the tech debuted on motorcycles more than five decades back. It’s not a lever. The lever moves the piston in the master cylinder. Blade has nothing to do with anything about the braking system. Even in the article above the terms are confused with each other. Goofy nomenclature is goofy.

Well, the 'Lever' refers to the entire assembly, whilst the bit that your finger moves is called the 'lever blade,' It's been this way since forever, SRAM, Shimano, Clarkes and so on all call the movable part of the lever the blade. It's just how it is. Alternatively we can call it the lever and then when you're ordering one you have to explain you want the lever for your lever but not the whole lever.

I mean, it's the lever and then the caliper right? Tech 4 V4 is the Tech 4 lever design and the V4 caliper, Tech 4 E4 is tech 4 lever and the E4 caliper. Same with these, Tech Evo Lever, GR caliper. Not for different bikes, just different, updated designs.

Why can’t I be the buffoon tester who is awful at install, has zero patience and little to no talent shifting? If it’s idiot proof…I’m your idiot

I dont fundamentally object to wireless shifting, but it has to be compatible with Shimano linkglide cassette spacing. It sounds like this maybe is?

Thanks for having the patience / interest to test these. Like pretty much any higher primate, I'd love to not have to deal with derailleur wires on a dual suspension bike. This price-point makes that seem possible, and maybe the next iteration will have those low-to-high gear transitions smoothed out. Until then, I'm a pass. Having derailleur shift like it's been bent straight out-of-the-box, is not my jam.

The Mezzer Expert has a different damper than the Pro. Expert only has a single compression adjustment and no hydraulic bottom out so you’ll still have a ways to go. Maybe you could get the 27.5 Pro for $330 and rip out all the internals? That’s probably close to the cost of the IRT plus a hypothetical damper upgrade kit

I have an Expert vs. pro, but enjoyed reading up on long-term Pro version. The Expert is hardly shabby though, and this is my goto fork over a Lyrik and a 38. I have run it from 140 to 180 travel as well. Easy to service in all regards. Just curious if having the IRT & air on top is really (Pro) is worth the extra tuning & time though? I've ridden the literally hell outta the Expert at bike parks and rowdy (western NC) nat-forest downhills, and I feel like I'm getting all the plush out of this thing...

100% did this. Skf needs to get the dual compound super extra most bestest seals made for them now.

PSA about the dust wiper issue: SKF makes a green (low-friction) wiper that takes care of that issue and reduces stiction. Ride it with the stock wipers until you're at 50 hours, then swap out the wiper when you're doing the first service. Le boom

Ti axle 20mm would be heavier than the aluminum axle. Possible that a ti 15mm axle could compete with a 20mm alu axle for stiffness and weight, but you lose clamping area.

discussed at 2:09 in review video and further in the tech discussion. short version - they tried all sizes and materials and all testers said 20mm steel was best.

This was my exact thought. A 40 is about 100 grams more and a Dorado about 300, not huge. I would think you also save a few grams on stem and shorter steer tube with a dual crown but that’s marginal. I do know some brands say their frames aren’t compatible with a dual crown fork. So if you have one of those frames this would make sense. Really hoping to see review comparing this fork, a Push, an Ohlins and through a dual crown fork in too just for fun.

Good writeup. Ok, I’ve been thinking about this a bit today. Let’s say you’re building a burly free ride bike. You can have this podium or a 190mm dual crown. They weigh about the same and have roughly the same axle to crown. Which do you pick?

I think generally stiffer chassis benefits lightweight riders a ton. I don't think there is anyone who thinks their fork works just as well on the brakes as it does off. As you mentioned the leverage on the fork is insane; that problem doesn't just go away because the rider loses 30-40 pounds. That's all the difference there is between a lightweight 130lb rider, and a "normal" 170lb rider. Is Jackson Goldstone struggling to win on a 40 because it's too stiff? Sure doesn't seem like it. So as a lighter rider myself (~130lbs) I don't think the fears over...
