How many of us would have instantly paid $350 to have this when we were balls deep on the first CC install 🤣

haven't read all the replies but I'll put my input in. having broken a total of 6 reserve rims using CC pro i knew there was something up. turns out the pressure from "rim strikes" was transferred directly to the center bead; the thinnest spot of the rim and causing it to break over and over again, i had to buy another wheelset just to use the rims while the broken ones were in warranty process. ditched the rims and the inserts and changed my setup to Zipp/CB rims with newly released (at the time) Conti tires per recommendation of...

Seeding results are in! Storming time by Asa, stoked to see Gwin up in fifth, and one has to wonder if Jackson is sandbagging or if he's not feeling it. Remember that unlike the World Cup, seeding carries no points and everybody who completes a top-to-bottom run and takes the start in qualifying gets to race finals at Hardline, so people could well be playing their cards close to the chest. Tune in tomorrow to see how it all plays out!

The pinkbike editor posts 10 things I loved this year gave me the idea for a new thread - vitalmtb user favorite products of 2025. So I'll kick it off: 0. Vital podcasts. I listened to many hours of vital podcasts in 2025. Loving it. Keep it coming please 1. Shwalbe Shredda tires - Holy smokes - god tier grip levels. You want to go have more control than you've ever had down the steepest steeps? Get one of these on the front of your bike. 2. Maven calipers - I'm experimenting with maven calipers with shimano/trp levers, and I'm...

Shimano will answer your email in about 5-10 years, next upgrade cycle.... Interesting how different some answers are from each other, each brand really is going their own way especially in the last "power" question. Where they all seem to be saying the same thing is battery advancement. With that being a HUGE source of weight it tells me we're not moving +/- 1-2 points for a few years. My question, who is going to release an integrated gearbox first? Otherwise keep fighting it out boys, the competition is good for us!

Highly paid athletes can also buy insurance against their future earnings. In the event of a career ending injury they can receive a large portion of expected wages if their career had not been cut short. That’s not an insurance product available for low paid athletes. I’m sure the premiums are enormous, but that’s not a huge deal when you make $10m a year.

The big story isn't the French surrender, but Asa the fastest rider of the day. A child has beaten the elite.

thejake Liked a comment about product review The Wild and Wonderful New FOX Podium Inverted Fork

6/24/2025 10:16pm
This was my exact thought. A 40 is about 100 grams more and a Dorado about 300, not huge. I would think you also save a few grams on stem and shorter steer tube with a dual crown but that’s marginal. I do know some brands say their frames aren’t compatible with a dual crown fork. So if you have one of those frames this would make sense. Really hoping to see review comparing this fork, a Push, an Ohlins and through a dual crown fork in too just for fun.

Good writeup. Ok, I’ve been thinking about this a bit today. Let’s say you’re building a burly free ride bike. You can have this podium or a 190mm dual crown. They weigh about the same and have roughly the same axle to crown. Which do you pick?

Agreed, from a rim only perspective very similar to Reserve 30mm alloy in terms of weight/size and warranty. But no offset spoke bed (for more balanced spoke tension), no awesome Fillmore valve stems, and $20 more per rim. Which leads to another question; Why are alloy rims so expensive these days? Manufacturing technology and materials have not really changed, but price has gone way up. Are the "lifetime warranty" companies basically charging more to offset replacement costs?

Blake_Motley Liked a reply to forum topic Have We Been Measuring Sag Wrong? (and how to fix it...)

This strikes me as excessive. Sag is a relative measurement anyway, there’s very little value in actually knowing the number. I guess you can get a little more precision out of it, and it could be cool to have as a team or a shop, but it’s pretty expensive for an individual

I don't understand the hate for e-bikes (pedal assist,) but I can totally get behind a ban on throttle-controlled e-motorcycles on bicycle trails. And this is coming from a motocross dude who also rides MTB. If it will go fast, spin the tire and uses a throttle, it's a motorcycle; It really doesn't matter if there are cranks and pedals attached to it if they don't have to be utilized. I'm also interested in seeing what's going to happen with these. From a legality standpoint, most of the trails around here aren't really policed by any authority, so it's like...

Is it just me or can 1/2 the riders in the field not do an interview without saying fuck???? I get being real on your socials but when WB is trying to secure sponsorship from businesses outside the mtb world, you might want to check what you say? Bigger sponsorship would bring the field larger payouts. And as a parent of young ones that repeat everything.... they don't watch with me.
