From my experience they fit similar to TLD, but about half a size off. I wear a large Fox for my V3 RS, my Mainframe, and my old Rampage Pro Carbon. My TLD Stage is an XL/XXL with the smallest pads instead of a M/L. I always felt like I was between sizes on the D3, but I haven’t tried...
Do yours move towards the bar or away? Mine move away from the bar after a few quick pulls. It’s really annoying, I got the levers replaced under warranty and it got better but it’s still not fixed. I met a guy who runs a shop about 2 hr away from me that swears he can get them working correctly...
I like the power and consistency of my Tech 4 V4s, but I don’t like how mushy the bite point feels compared to my old Codes. Speaking of Hopes and Codes, has anyone ever heard of someone running Code levers on V4 calipers? V4s have the same piston sizing as the calipers that Cascade Components sells as an upgrade for...

I just looked it up, it does meet a moto certification, ECE22.05. ECE 22.05 is the outgoing version of the standard but it’s cool to see a company shooting for overkill instead of the bare minimum. I held a friends Full 10 the other day and it was alarmingly light. It feels more like an enduro helmet than a DH...

I’m a big proponent of moto helmets these days. They’re a little heavier and hotter, but you get accustomed to it pretty quickly. Their safety standards are generally more rigorous than bicycle standards. The new European standard ECE22.06 actually includes low speed and rotational force testing. Anecdotally, I’ve had a couple of huge crashes relatively recently. One was in my...

Make your own bike park by installing a zip line from the top to the bottom, and send your battery down by itself every time you finish the climb. Shred down and pick up your battery again at the bottom.

I guess? 🤷 Personally I only ride up so I can ride down. If the down is less fun, it doesn’t really matter to me how much easier the climb is. I’d be curious how light you could make an ebike without a large internal battery that just ran on a small external battery. (like the size of a range...

I don’t know, a Slash+ is like 46lb. For me personally, the self shuttle aspect of ebikes is completely ruined by the fact that they all seem to descend like crap because they’re so heavy. Good luck unweighting the bike to change lines. I always feel kinda forced to just smash through whatever is in front of me with no...

I think the “enduro” bike as we know it is dying. We keep seeing enduro bikes creeping towards DH bike territory with longer travel and dual crown compatibility, while trail bikes are creeping up on enduro bikes from the other side. I can see the classic 160mm enduro bike going away and being replaced by 170-190mm descent focused bikes with...

That would make sense if they had bikes, but a lot of things are sold out. Scouts have been sold out in almost every configuration for months. Also the carbon Sentinel still isn’t UDH. I thought we were gonna get an update this summer for sure.

So, it sounds like the consensus view is that the Formula CTS valves (at least the ones pictured in the teardown article of the Selva fork) ARE a simple orifice damper that uses different-sized holes and different hole configurations in the changeable donut-shaped piston as the source of damping. The single shim is likely only there are a one-way check valve to prevent flow through the piston in the opposite direction, and the shim is NOT there as a way to generate damping force in the primary flow direction. So it's a dead simple mechanical system. Bigger holes = less...

Regarding “derailments;“ Every discussion in here is about tech and innovation. If we are discussing damper designs, rubber compounds, frame materials, etc. How are any of those discussions a derailment? Does everything HAVE to be a rumor? I haven’t seen anybody post a movie review, a story about a riding trip, or the current weather in Iowa. It’s all relevant. Funny thing about all those links people put up to discuss specific topics. Nobody engages with them. This thread is always active and always interesting. If rumors are sparse, what’s the harm?

The constant whinging that tech rumours is getting derailed is kind of annoying and derailing in itself. In my opinion its OK to discuss the tech rumour or current happenings for at least a page or two, and then they generally dissipate or move to other threads. If a legitimate large rumour or release happens it naturally takes over the thread anyway, they're discussing damping and leverage because there isn't a lot happening right now. Plus, Primoz, Teamrobot and Cascade make up some of the best and most knowledge members and are creating a valid discussion. For better or worse...

I did see that, I guess they could be using a single shim for high speed compression. I know a single shim is often used as a check valve for oil flow though. I’d love to get my hands on a couple of the valves to see how they work. I was trying to find pictures of the other valves...
