9/17/2024 6:52am Really I don't get why you should consider thicker rotor rear should change anything ? Once your pads are settle, no matter what is the rotor width, they will have to do the exact same amount of travel (defined by the piston seal) to touch the rotor. The width of the rotor does not change anything.

9/15/2024 3:53am The TR11, Smuggler, and Spur are the only non-trunnion models. The Spire, Scout, Sentinel, Relay, Repeater (PT and EP8), and Patrol all have trunnion mounted shocks.

9/13/2024 11:03am I think that the derailleur hanger stopped being a sacrificial part after we moved from 11spd to 12spd (maybe 10 to 11) because the tolerances are tighter everything has to be stiffer and more precise. It’s very difficult to make a hanger stiff enough for good 12spd shifting and still sacrificial.

9/12/2024 10:44am Of the 7-8 cages your group has broken, do you know the distribution of what levels they were? For the aluminum cages, I have a theory that the GX is the strongest, followed by XX, and the X0 is weakest. The XX and X0 seem to bend at the big cutout. The XX looks like it’s forged while the X0...

9/11/2024 9:27am What are the odds are that they offer mechanical transmission above the SX level? I could maybe see them offering it at GX and having that be the crossover point.

9/11/2024 9:18am Or you could get a Ripmo AF for $2999 with GX eagle. (Or Deore for $3299) Then you don’t have to support Giant.

9/10/2024 2:52pm I imagine it would be fairly easy to implement if you started with a twin tube air spring design like the 38.

9/9/2024 3:50pm I know a few fast people who are on the DHX/Float X for DH use. The story I’ve heard is that it’s cheap, reliable and responds very well to retuning. It has less external adjustability than an X2, but if it’s tuned for you that doesn’t really matter.

9/5/2024 10:08am As an Enduro owner, I feel like the seat angle is a bit overblown. While it would be nice if it was a bit steeper, it still rides fine and I basically never think about it. I would argue the fact that so little needs changing after 5 years show how much they nailed the design in the first place...

9/4/2024 10:09am Haro's France IG page just released a pic of an upcoming carbon version of the Daley, 150/140 rig, she clean: And they have some pics of a very tidy enduro rig as well, not sure what got in the water at Haro but I'm here for it.

9/4/2024 8:26am I have heard the complete opposite from a geo perspective (steeper HTA). When the Sentinel came out, there was no Spire. Now there is the Spire so Transition can now make the Sentinel more of an "all mountain" bike and keep the Spire as their big enduro bike.

8/29/2024 11:40am I like shimano brakes a lot more than sram (I’ve yet to try the mavens tho) but you have to admit dot is objectively better than mineral oil.

8/29/2024 9:51am On the subject of private testing, I have to give Leatt a lot of credit there. They actually publish test reports and whitepapers for a lot of their products. If they claim a product passes a test above the norm, they almost always have a test report you can read. For example, their 6.5 goggles pass military ballistic impact test...

8/29/2024 7:12am If I had a dollar for every time I’ve massaged the pistons on these stupid brakes, I could buy a few six packs of beer to drown the pain these things have caused me. The pistons aren’t retracting fast enough. I’ve tried lubricating them, I’ve tried not lubricating them, I’ve tried replacing the olive and barb, I’ve tried replacing the...

8/27/2024 3:44pm I’m bleeding them, and yes, the Sram manual tells you to wind out the adjuster. To clarify, my bite point doesn’t wander. They pump up on rapid lever pulls.

8/27/2024 1:50pm Aren’t Hope Green and Galfer Green literally the same thing? I’m 90% sure my Hope pads said “Galfer” on the back, and the Hope coloring matches the Galfer color system.

8/27/2024 1:41pm From my experience they fit similar to TLD, but about half a size off. I wear a large Fox for my V3 RS, my Mainframe, and my old Rampage Pro Carbon. My TLD Stage is an XL/XXL with the smallest pads instead of a M/L. I always felt like I was between sizes on the D3, but I haven’t tried...
